matthias church (matyas templom)

玛仕佳教堂建在布达城堡山上，紧挨着渔夫堡。高耸的建筑有向上冲入天空的感觉，屋顶还有彩色的砖石装饰，相对无其他纯白的教堂，有自己的特色。时间紧张，就没有入内去看，不知内部是否也有惊喜。

I was pleased that i saw this as the inside is intricately painted and very pleasing to the eye.I cannot describe it well but it is very decorative and unlike any other church or cathedral that I have been in.It does seem to be a tourist destination more than a church but it feels well loved.

Probably one of the most beautiful interiors I've ever seen in a church! The location and the view is also stunning!

Absolutely beautiful, if you like your architecture then this is a must see. The outside is astonishing but then you walk inside and it's breathtaking.

Extraordinary examples of architecture and Hungarian art abound in this church. Great stories contained within these walls about past royalty, heroes, tragic deaths and surviving religious artifacts. Beautiful statuary (one that even frightened their Ottoman enemies into leaving!) and extraordinary restorations on display in an upper art gallery. Worth the hike!!

I couldn't stop taking photos of this beautiful church. The colorful tiled roof is typically Hungarian and a sight you'll remember for a long time.

Several reviewers made the mistake of not going into this marvelous church. As lovely as the outside is, the interior is even better. Plan to spend a long time absorbing all the details here.

This church is a must see.It is absolutely stunning inside with lots of history. Parts of it are being renovated/cleaned at the moment but this does not take away its beauty.

The church is nice made with authentic Hungarian architecture.. there are detailed carvings all over... It reminded me of some churches in France which were grand...

I did not go inside, but really enjoyed looking at it, it has beautiful details and th Hungarian style-roof that I am very fond of. There is also a very nice view of the city from up here.

I couldn't get over how beautiful the roof is!! It's a stunning building just next to the fishermens bastion. Well worth a visit. The architecture of Budapest is so beautiful and this is a perfect example of this!

As our hotel was next to the church we could choose when to look round as it was a very busy stop for the tourist buses from early morning till quite late a night. A stunning building.

The exterior is so beautifully kept, with a distinctive roof and wonderful carving. The interior almost defies description...all I'll say is that every surface is exquisitely painted...discover it yourself!

Worth a visit, don't skip it when visiting Fisherman's Fortress. It was a quite astonishing experience, because of youn students doing restoration of some artistic pieces, and its wonderful museum on high floor.

The word Beautiful can't even begin to describe this church. I spent about an hour and a half there with my family, and we saw three other churches that day. But this was the most colorful and impressive one that day. There are a lot of motorist influences and it use to be a mosque as well. We had a private tour guide that was recommended by Rick steeves. Her name is Andrea and she was fantastic. Told us all of the history of matthias church. Couldn't have seen budapest without her. But definitely make sure you go to this church. You won't be dissapointed.
