It is very beautiful and a nice piece of art, especially sunset time the sunshines on grey stones and makes very good view. I ate simit and drink tea while watching this beauty.
Situated in the heart of the city, this is a great place to people watch. It's a little cold in February to linger but during the hot summer months, it's a great place to cool down in the sea breeze. The little mosque beside the clock is stunningly beautiful.
The clock tower is the symbol of Izmir, at least when it comes to tourism and souvernirs. You will find it in Konak square, in the heart of the city. The tower may not be the most glorious attraction of the area, but still it is a "must see", and as anyone visiting Izmir is most likely to pass by the square sooner or later, a look at the tower will not steal much of your time.
Beautiful achitectural creation. Small scale monument next to a tiny mosque and in the middle of a central square of the city of Izmir.
This rather splendid city was spoiled for us by the persistent scam perpetrated by Kurdish shoe-cleaners in the beach area.Every persuasive trick was tried; including 'do it for free'. Relenting, and giving a tip, we were told afterwards that some ten Euros was the price. Taken by surprise, they managed to get £16 from two people. This appears to be a coordinated operation and brings the area into bad reputation.A seasoned traveller and guide, I was still taken-in.This needs to be cleaned up by the authorities and I do have a photo of the operative. The shoes were very good, though!
It is a monument, very nice to take photos, during the day and also during the night, when warm colours enlighten it.It is besides a cute small mosque and some (not cute) government buildings.
a historic clock tower located at the Konak Square in Konak district of İzmir, Turkey.back to built in 1901, it is Izmir LandmarkVisit is if you will go to Izmir
Konak watch tower is trademark of İzmir city. Every visitor take photo of it or take photo of himself or herself as memoir
One the major landmarks of Izmir which we visited on our way to the airport after a week in Selcuk/Kusadasi. A nice place, also nice to visit the tiny but beautiful Mosque right next to the clocktower.
To be honest if you visit Izmir, there is no way that you will leave town without seeing it either if you are with a tour or if you are solo. There is not much to see actually. Shortly, it is built by Raymond Charles Pére in 1901 as a present from German emperor Wilhelm 2. It is said that it reflects the Ottoman style of architecture.. Maybe it's not areal charm for me just because of that it is located in my hometown of Izmir. But anyway, you will see it eventually if you visit Izmir :)) However, you will enjoy feeding the pigeons...
Place should be visited during your time in Izmir. Historical Clock Tower (Saat Kulesi) is located in Izmir Old Bazaar and might be opportunity to spend some coins.
The clock tower is of local historical interest and is in the middle (more or less) of a square that is surrounded by shops selling lovely Turkish sweets...the whole area is quite pleasant though busy...
In photo this tower seems big, large wonderful, but when I've seen really this one I was disappointed...Small, low..nothing particular..Mah!
Must have seen while you visiting Izmir, very nice details, stone work is really nice, you will enjoy to take a photo there
With the hundreds of pigeons in the square it reminded me of Picadilly Circus in London. Nice place by the sea to just sit and watch the crowds.
