Realy nice place, I was there several times, and I`ll visit it again. Great nature, landscape too. For a long walks.
Mokra Gora is beautifull national park in west Serbia. Nature is stunning, surely one of the best in Serbia.Main atractions beside its nature are etno village Mecavnik(built by film director Emir Kusturica) and Sargan 8 Train (which goes through some untouched nature of mokra Gora).Place worth seeing if you like to enjoy in nature and its sounds. Went there 3 times and surely will go many more times.
If you like nature, mountain- this is the place. Here in Mokra Gora is also Drvengrad, the town made from wood, owner Kustrica- movie director. Interesting to visit. There is no so much WOW attractions here, but again, if you want to relax, calm, and enjoy the nature- this is the right place. The house we have been in is etno- house, full of history and the owner is very pleasant. There is magic in witer here, but also I am pretty sure that is magical in spring and summer too. There is more information about the house on the net, and also Drvengrad and ski center. Visegrad is 25 km from here.
So its been a while i was here, but my overall experience to say its great! Its not quite a location, i mean you need time to get here, but its lovely to go there. Its very peaceful and cool. As i remember there is a theater too which is pretty cool. You also have small church to fire a candle, and pray... You can usually find many cool, traditional Serbian goodies in small shops. There is also a restaurant and caffe as i recall. I went twice and it was great both time! ☺️
The old train used to be pulled by a steam engine, but now it is diesel. However, the old carriages have been retained with their tables and seats. You travel through some beautiful scenery looking out over the mountains. The train stops at a couple of little stations and for some photo opps along the way. We went in the morning and booked a table for lunch for our return to Mokra Gora at the restaurant right on the station. This is an activity for all the family. The steps into the train from the station are quite high.
A ride in the Šargan Eight train (for kids really perfect but not least for adults) and a visit to Drvengrad... It is almost like travelling to another world. Come to Belgrade, rent a car and make this trip! With a very modest budget, you'll pass wonderful time!
This village is located on the top of a mountain near Zlatibor, Serbia. It has one of the most beautiful landscapes I've ever seen. The village itself is adorable... the houses are smaller than usual and all made of wood... you just want to lay there in the grass, look at the blue sky and appreciate life.
First rode the Saragan eight last August and enjoyed ourselves. This time we are enjoying a few days in the area. Good restaurants and perfect scenery
The Šargan Eight (Serbian: Шарганска осмица, Šarganska osmica) is the attraction with spirit of old time with Steam trains. There were 20 tunnels including the summit tunnel of 1,666m!!! Really Great experience!
Sargan 8 is narrow-gauge railway running from the village of Mokra gora to Vitasi. This track has a large number of bridges and 20 tunnels. Name "Eight" suits because track climbs over the hill in the curved circles making the figure of eight.
