I saw this river flowing under the bridge of many cities of Eastern Europe and even Belgrade is partially touched by this romantic and legendary river. Not to be confused with the Sava river, which is the one closest to the fortress that separates the old town with the Great War Island. The Danube has to be seen by the distance, it meets and joins the Sava River, creating a giant river, one of the largest and most important rivers of the continent. Quite romantic.
I love this river . . . what a history it could tell .. . Keep promising myself to make the time to read that great volume 'Danube' which tells the history of the lands and peoples along the river over many centuries
The point where Sava and Danube meet has a great walk and bicycle path. The view is amazing and you can actually watch the two rivers mix! There are floating cafeterias and restaurants, though when I went they were close. Ducks and swans give a romantic feeling and there is a massive, weird looking building overlooking the shore, which I then found out is a gym with wonderfulness view. I couldn' t manage to find a way to cruise the river but it was beautiful either way. Great view of the rivers is offered atop the fortress, must see sunset...the colours were breathtaking.
It's a night visit,by ship with un orcestar and the dinner with friends enjoying the sight on the river and the Belgrade Fortress .It is magnific to see all the lights playing the nice shades on the surrounding objects and churches.Take a ticket and go ahead I wish you a nice sejourne there!!!!!
It is something that you must do is take a stroll and see the river. Wont take long and you can sit and people watch
It's nice to have a dinner on the rafts on the river. The restaurants provide you with a different music: oldies, traditional serbian music. you can also find some fish taverns.
At this location, the Dunav (Danube) River has a very industrial feeling, somewhere like the Mississippi. There is a very nice walking path as well as a separate bicycle path along the waterway.
We had a one day stop in Belgrade on a river cruise. What a picturesque city. Old and new combined. Rode a bicycle along the Danube and had a blast. There are parts of Belgrade not on the tourist trail that are poignant and sad. Old relics of boats, old Soviet buildings, etc. Interesting to see a country in transition.
Plan to just sit and stare at this famous landmark. Lots of people do and I can understand why. It almost defines Belgrade but just looking up at it while you keep walking doesn't satisfy the requirement of seeing the Danube.
There are many places to take-in the historic and beautiful Danube but none is better than the Belgrade Fortress overseeing the delta.
It's amazing, how much two Belgrade Rivers have to offer! The Danube-Sava confluence creates a huge baisin, with nice sorroundings, islands, parks, and restaurants. It was delightful!
go to zemun and rent a bike by the river... there are lots of walking and cycling roads here.... fell the fresh air, you will see lots of local people here
I never have seen one big river than that. In the night is more beautiful with the lights. And you can go to the bridge and you will have a beautiful views.
The vieww from the old fort at the junction of the river Sava and the Danube is just stunning. What a beautiful location for a city! Belgrade has a very vibrant atmosphere with many beatutiful spots
Breathtaking. I strolled along the river, watched others as they walked and talked.... extremely relaxing and easy going atmospher.
