We visited Tsangarides Winery after a lovely lunch at Letymbou Tavern in the next village. In fact it was the owner Anita who suggested it would be a nice way to complete our afternoon. What a warm welcome on arrival, made even more so when Angelos the owner realised we were from NZ. His assistant for the harvest had just been in NZ doing a harvest earlier this year so she was very excited to discuss places and wines with us. Even though they were busy with it being the last day of harvest, Angelos still found time to be a hospitable host and showed us around the winery. We were very generously treated to large samples of lovely organic wines, a delightful Chardonnay, a Xinisteri, and a very nice Shiraz Rose, all of which we purchased. Didn't get to taste the Reds unfortunately as we still had to find our way back home.
This place is a delight, and so are the people, especially Angelo. You have to envy their location, and they produce excellent, good value wines.
What a wonderful winery this is. A family-run winery that produces excellent wines at excellent prices. We were initially taken there by friends, but have since been back to introduce other friends and to purchase more of the excellent wine. My husband "adopted" a vine for me for my birthday, which was a lovely idea. Angelos and Tom could not be more friendly and Angelos is happy to share his knowledge about past and present wine production in Cyprus. On each visit we sit in the lovely courtyard and sample the wines, accompanied by olives, cheese, grapes, etc. A lovely trip out in beautiful Cyprus.
This winery is off the main road at Lemona. It is clearly signed from the main road but two further turns had rather subtle signage which we nearly missed. This is a very small, family run winery and we were given an interesting tour and free tasting. We had the impression of a really personal touch to the winemaking from the handpicking of the grapes grown on small mountain plots, the decision making on a batch by batch basis about how the grapes will be best used, to the small hand fed bottling machine. We were invited to sit on a cool terrace looking out across the vineyards to sample the wines and were easily persuaded to buy a few bottles, in theory as gifts to take home though we may be tempted to drink them before we get there.
We had a fantastic visit to the winery, from the moment we stepped from the car and bumped into Angelos (owner and wine maker) who was sampling some work in progress wine. He was only too happy to talk with us about his winery and the wines he is making, and is passionate about his new organic wines. The winery has got its certification. The wines we tasted were excellent, especially the Matero. He even took us round the winery to see some of the wine currently being made - a real treat. The winery is in a beautiful location and we'd recommend making the effort to get there - the drive itself is also beautiful.
We went there to do a wine tasting, the place is in a nice location not far from the village of letimbou. The father of the owner was serving us all their wines with some cheese and olives. Well, the Chardonnay is impressive as well the Shiraz rose'.Their jewel: the Shiraz produced as limited edition is a must to buy but it will be difficult to get some bottles, may be you buy first other wines and then you get it!
Another visit to Tsangarides was on the cards ... a) To stock up on their excellent Mataro red. b) our son and his wife were out on a visit and had never been.As always Angelos was very welcoming and made the visit so interesting with his knowledge, expertise and passion about his winery. It was harvest time so we had the added attraction of watching the grapes being crushed. By a piece of sophisticated machinery and not feet!!!! And of course you get to taste the delicious wines! The village of Lemona is delightful and there are lovely views from the winery.A great way to pass a few hours and in my opinion the best wine in Cyprus.
We had been to the Letymbou tavern for lunch and very nice it was too. The winery was only a few kilometres further so we decided to pay it a visit. The winery is only small and very quaint with a nice view, but it makes up for it's size with some massive tasting wines on offer! The owner was warm and friendly and offered us a sample of four of the wines they produce all were very nice and palatable and our favourites the shiraz rose and the Mataro, Cabinet sauvignon and Shiraz blended red soon made their way into a mixed case and to the boot of our hire car to be enjoyed during our stay!
Visit on Sunday whereas the cellars are normally closed!!!Very nice reception of the owner. Tasting of the various productions with very interesting explanations concerning the wineyard work and winemaking methods.Product of quality for a good price. Don't miss them!
the winery is amazing , the owner Angelos is a very good host and passionate about his wines that are the best in the paphos area. we will go back :)
We are regular visitors to Tsangarides Winery, not only because the wines are delicious, but the vineyards is set in some of the most beautiful countryside. Take a packed lunch with you and after you have enjoyed a complimentary wine tasting you can choose your favourite bottle to while away the afternoon no better way to chill and soak up the ambiance of the winery.Angelos and his Father are excellent hosts and have a passion for their wine, their hospitality is legendary. Will not be long before we are back.... just as soon as our supply runs out!!
A great winery in the mountains behind PaphosWe were given a tour by a very knowledgable lady who had recently completed an MA in wine making... We were treated to locally make cheese etc whilst we tasted the six wines they bottle ... A great way to spend a morning....
Situated in the lovely village of Lemona, you really do feel if you have stepped back in time. The tour of the winery is highly recommended, as the owner Angelos is very knowledgeable about his industry considering that the winery was only established in 2005. My wife & I both think that their white & rose wines are the best of the Cypriot wines. We spent a very pleasant couple of hours on the tour & on the terrace sampling their wines & enjoying the beautiful view. We must have had a good time as we bought a case of 12 wines (6 whites & 6 roses).
The best wine in Cyprus and very good winetaste with some snacks. Lovey winery and very very good wines, I love their rosé and the Cabernet Sauvignon and their withe of course. Don`t miss this!
We had a great time! Small winery, welcoming and pleasent owner. Nice tour of the winery and the owner is happy to explain and answer any question there is. Good wine! Very friendly! We ended up sitting with the owner and his friend for nearly two hours just talking and drinking wine. Very recommended!
