admont monastery

We had actually seen an article about the Monastery library on a photography site, and decided to make the slightly out of the way trip to see it for ourselves. The admission fees were more than fair, and much to my surprise there was the option to buy a photography pass for 4 euros (the website had listed no photography).While wandering around the library and the grounds, we ran into several staff members who offered answers to questions and more suggestions on things to see. Everyone was very friendly, and fluent in multiple languages.The town of Admont, the Monastery, and especially the library are all must-see sights if you're near Admont.

Wonderful architecture is a lovely location. The library is incredible and needs time. There are many sections to see here. The collection of old illuminated books is great. Must not ignore the Natural History collectionOn the top floor the view from the external staircase is a delight.

Amazing library and lovely church - we were lucky that a wedding was being celebrated just after we had been round the church.

A magnificent medieval library. If you like books, you must come to this place. Try and take one of the guided tours to discover some of the library's many secrets (like the secret passages to the upper floor). The rather steep admission fee (9.50 EUR) also covers the entrance to the natural history museum and art gallery.

We visited this wonderfull place on 10-11th August, when they celebrated the 8th Cloister Market Days, where convents from Austria and other countries are offerring their products. It was the second time we visited Admont for this special event!

The library is magnificent; both the room and the books. The monastery has so many wonderful sights and the grounds are beautiful. The products made there and specially for them are great values and the wine is very good.

Must see monastery with exellent old library. Take a tour and enjoy one of the biggest colelctions of old books. Visit also the areas around like Gesause.

Wir waren mit unseren Kindern dort und besuchten den Lesesaal und die Museen. Besonders bemerkenswert war die ausgezeichnete Führung, welche spontan sehr kindergerecht und spannend gestaltet wurde. So war der Besuch des beeindruckenden Lesesaals nicht nur für die Eltern vergnüglich Die gesamte Anlage des Klosters ist sehr schön, der Besuch ist also zu empfehlen, wenn man mal in der Gegend ist.

Wir besuchten das Stift und das Museum ohne Führung. Es ist alles sehr gut und verständlich beschriftet. Beeindruckt hat uns vor allem die multimediale Stiftspräsentation im Museum des Stiftes Admont sowie die Filme über das Leben und die Regel des hl. Benedikt sowie interaktiv abrufbar die Stiftsgeschichte. Alles in allem sehr mordern und informativ. Das Personal war sehr hilfsbereit und aufmerksam in der Stiftsbibliothek.

No podiamos imaginar que detras de los muros de esta abadia habia un mundo de modernidad y clasicismo a la vez. La sala de audiovisuales que simula una esfera es una pasada de avance digital, el museo deciencias naturales plagado de animales y la bibioteca una maravilla que te deja sin habla. Desde luego muy recomendable ir hasta Admont solo para ver esta abadia.

Natürlich ist es auch ein besonders geeignetes "Schlechtwetterprogramm", aber man sollte es auch bei Sonnenschein nicht versäumen, dieses Juwel zu besuchen. Es ist die größte Klosterbibiliothek der Welt ( flächenmäßig, nicht nach Anzahl der Bücher ) und der Anblick, wenn man die Türe öffnet ist einfach umwerfend.Es gibt auch eine sehr schöne Führung, die weitgehend auf langweilige Namen und Jahreszahlen verzichtet, sondern die Geschichte sehr kurzweilig erzählt.Wer eine Gelegenheit sucht, den langen Weg nach Kroatien zu verkürzen, sollte die Strecke über Graz wählen und da liegt Admont auf dem Weg. Ein Superspot und ich verstehe nicht, warum er nicht auf der UNESCO Liste steht.

--Wieder einmal schlechtes Wetter mit Regen brachte uns ins Benediktinerstift Admont und es war eine hervorragende Entscheidung endliche einmal die weltgrößte Bibliothek und weitere sehenswerte Ausstellung besuchen zu können - wirklich imposant und lehrreich mit Führung durch die Bibliothek.

An einem Regentag während unseres Urlaubs in Ramsau fuhren wir nach Admont, um den Benediktinerstift zu besuchen. Am besten hat uns das naturhistorische Museum gefallen, das eine grosse Ausstellung minuziös aufgereihter Schätze besitzt. Die gesamte Ausstellung ist sehr interessant, vielfältig und hat die ganze Familie gefesselt.Die Bibliothek ist hell, glänzend und beeindruckend. Man bekommt ein Gefühl der Leichtigkeit und gleichzeitig Ehrfurcht wenn man mitten in der Bibliothek steht und diesen Raum auf sich wirken lässt.Das einzige was uns nicht gefallen hat, war der Verkauf im Paterre: überteuerte Preise attraktiver Artikel, hätten sie weniger gekostet, hätten wir sicherlich gerne das eine oder andere mitgenommen.Ein Ausflug, der sich absolut lohnt !!!!
