schaubergwerk oberzeiring

Plan a 2 hour stop at the silver mine at Oberzeiring. Be at least 15 mins early for the tour to have enough time to change to warmer clothing since the mine is 8 deg. Cel. all year long. You will be provided with helmets to protect yourself in the narrow caves. The tour itself is about 1 1/4 hours. I don't think they provide an english tour but it's also worth to see it when doing the German tour. Expect to climb down and up again many many stairs - but at 8 deg. in an absolutely clean air environment that's part of the fun! Enjoy. We did this 2 times already and will be back next year again!

The old mine is now used to cure astma but there is also a guided tour to see the places were some centuries ago silver was found. very interesting history told by a very nice guide. even on a hot summerday there is only 8 °C in the mine - therefore do not forget a jacket! and good shoes are recommended. not recommended to people who are afraid in thight rooms as sometimes you nearly have to walk on your knees to get trough

Im Schaubergwerk Oberzeiring steigt man über 600 Stufen durch Jahrhunderte der Bergwerksgeschichte. Die radonhaltige Luft war zum einen sehr gesund zum anderen aber auch eine willkommene Frische in der Sommerhitze. Warme Kleidung unbedingt anziehen, da es unter Tage doch sehr frisch ist! Teilweise geht man im Kriechgang durch die Stollen, man erhält einen Helm, so daß der Kopf aber sicher ist. Durch die kleine Gruppengröße hat die ca. 1 Stunde dauernde Führung richtig Spass gemacht und war informativ und auch ein Abenteuer!
