A must see if you are in Graz, including the very large church organ (one of the largest in Europe !)

I used to drive by this Basilica every single day, and on returning to Graz one year with my family I asked if we could stop by. On driving past I always thought it was so huge and beautiful, so I was very happy when we went inside, it is amazing, one of the most beautiful Basiilica's I have ever been in. And I've been in a lot! Well worth a visit.

For anyone who is fond of Baroque art this basilica cannot be beat. Every surface is adorned and everything is in great shape(however, not my cup of tea).

We visited around 9:30 on a Thursday morning in mid October. There is parking available at the top of the hill at no charge. There is also a café behind the church and people were dining outside but we didn't go to it. The basilica is amazing. We walked all the way around it and went inside. It was beautiful. In the front it looks like that perhaps in the summer they have food and items for sale but it was closed when we were there. In the back it looked like WCs were available. Great views from the top of the hill. Highly recommend.

Very classy, ancient Basilika worthwhile go for an evening mass. Cute location on top of the hill. Be aware when you drive, very steep climbing.

The basilica is located on a historic site and really worth visiting. To our surprise, there were only a few visitors on a Saturday morning and we enjoyed the quietness in this beautiful church.

Von der Endstation der Straßenbahn kann man die Basilika in 5-10 min über eine Stiege erreichen. Der Aufstieg lohnt sich. Im Restaurant neben der Kirche gibt es einen schattigen Gastgarten. Das Essen ist allerdings etwas überteuert.

Absolut sehenswert. Und erlebenswert. Wenn man mit Öffi unterwegs ist und nicht gut zu fuß, dann ist der Anmarsch etwas beschwerlich. Lohnt sich aber, Innenraum wunderschön, die Madonna ein katholisches Kleinod, ein Juwel!

Por fuera no parece gran cosa, pero por dentro es muy bonita, aunque un poco sobrecargada, para ir hace falta el coche, visita gratuita.

Grundsteinlegung 1714, später Veränderungen und Renovierung1843 waren Franziskaner hier, 1908/9 wurden die Fresekenrenoviert. Papst Johannes Paul II hat die Wallfahrtskirche am 28. Okt. 1999 zur Basilika erhoben. Auch hier hat die Wallfahrt abgenommen, aber es immer noch ein beliebtes Ziel, auchfür Hochzeiten. 216 Stufen sind es bis zur Kirche. Mit der Tram Linie 1 bis zur Endstadtion Maria Trost.Besonders beeindruckend sind die Deckengemälde.

zu erreichen. Kurzer netter Ausflug. Gasthaus zur Einkehr nach der Anfahrt gleich daneben. Man kann auch mit der Strassenbahn aus der Stadt anreisen. Sie bleibt am Fusse des Kirchbergs stehen und man erklimmt den Berg über die imposante Treppe.
