The place to visit while visiting Molivos. It's 360 degree views are absolutely amazing. If your up to it, walk through winding streets of Molivos. You really get a feel for the city.

Great 360 degrees view, well maintained, easy to access with car but as far as I could see it is not disabled friendly.

We did an evening guided walk, up to the castle, and watched the sun go down. The views from the top are really good, and the walk down took through all the winding back streets.

Definite feeling of ancient history when standing in the castle with panorama views of the island and Turkey. We walked up from the harbour and it was quite the ascent through the pictoresque village of Molyvos. Weak of heart or legs would be recommended to drive :-). Seems like a given thing to do if one does have time in Molyvos but I would not say a must. The castle's presence is so tone setting to the area, beautifully lit up at night as well as crowning the hill during the day, you will have enjoyed the castle even if you do not officially visit it!

On the top of the nice traditional vilage of Molyvos is the Castle. It is a very well preserved medieval castle with nice views all around the area and the Aegean sea. It is a must see if you visit Molyvos.

Enjoyed wonderful view over the city and sea. Staff did all to make us comfortable. Great for tea time, highly recommended.

If you are visiting Lesvos, chances are you visit Molyvos anyway, and if you are here it would make no sense to leave a castle visit out. It’s just 2€ and it does not take that long. The main structure of the castle is pretty much intact; outer and inner walls, gates and towers. If you know what to look for, you can see traces of the various rulers of the castle throughout it’s time as an active fortress. There is a small exhibition in one of the buildings in the courtyard, where the history of the castle (and the region) is briefly explained, enough to get the big picture. You can drive all the way up to the castle, or you can walk on the small and narrow streets of Molyvos and criss-cross you way up the hill in an almost infinite number of combinations.Driving up is faster and easier. Walking up will both give you a little exercise and let you see more of Molyvos. There is a restaurant next to the castle with a great view. Didn't try it though.

Nice, but they could do a bit more with their history, "bring it back" for the visitors. From the ancient agora (which unfortunately is completely gone) to the byzatine age, fighting the Turks from the castle, the food, everday life and such. We saw a very skinny fox on the top of the casle...wonder if it's linked to the wonderfull blue fox sweet shop in the traditional market...?But the price for seeing the castle inside was very friendly - only 2 €.

Make sure a trip to the castle features in your trip to Molyvos. Well worth the walk up there and the views are spectacular. Only 2 euros each to get in so great value! Taverna there is very reasonably priced. Suggest walking back down via the cobbled streets to the old town.

you need to be able to walk good to visit this castle. way up on the top of a hill. coaches and bus do get close but once you rare inside lots of negotiation to be made. This said it was well worth a visit and impressive views and amazing atmosphere

We toured Lesbos from the 3rd to 10th September, staying in Molyvos for 4 nights, the town its self raises up through the old town to the castle. This is quite a steep cobble stoned incline however you can approach from the back via a gradual well tarmaced road. 2 euros entrance fee bur closes around 1800 hrs, generally. There is a small and modern cake at the castles base more than adequate for light refreshment and a viewing area to watch the sun set over the harbour.Views are stunning back to Petra and Anaxos in the distance,a small train/road side version travels between Molyvos/Petra and Anaxos for a small fee 3 or 4 euros one way or 7 euros allowing you to get on and off with a day pass. A walk through the walled and part covered shopping area is fantastic, well worth a visit along with the harbour also.

Touring in Molivos through the little and narrow roads, you can climb up to the Castle where you will have breathtaking view.Very nice place to see a part of Turkey from that point.Strongly recommended.

I loved seeing this castle that has a lot of history linked to it. it also has some stunning views so if you are visiting Lesvos (mytilene) you definately need to see this landmark on the north of the island

It was really taken care of. We enjoyed it very much even if it was raining a lot that day. It is big and very well preserved. It closes at 3 pm but you can always have a walk around the castle to enjoy the surrounding views
