a must see for everyone who can climb those stairs...lovely view ! And if you're lucky, there is a wedding or baptism going on there...

We have visited here several times when coming to Petra. This year was made more special as we have lost a few friends and wanted to light candles. The climb was difficult in places but the views are Amazing. I would advise people to do this early morning before it gets too hot and take water with you.

The views of Petra are great and the church is very grand. No dislikes apart from needing a bit more puff at the top.

While going through small road in market place in Petra,just go through the little road and take the Cafe Babe's Corner at yr right hand side and walk about 100 meters and you will find the entrance onur right.There is about 140 and so steps to go the top.Very well protected and maintained church.Superb view on the top.Highly recommended to climb up to the top as the view is fascinating.

The church on the rock is a lovely place. It's just a bit of a problem to get to as it is on top of the volcanic plug at the centre of the village of Petra on Lesvos. So, if you are keen to go, go early in the morning as it's too hot later in the day and treacherous after dark.The church itself is lovely inside and much lighter than many Orthodox buildings. The iconostasis is well carved and the icons and lights are lovely.The priest is a very welcoming man and happy for people to attend services.

The view is Worth to climb the stairs..It is a peaceful place.You can discover the entrance among the narrow stone streets.

My nameday is celebrated on the 15th of August so on the eve of, when on the island of Lesvos, we head to this fabulous chapel. My husband proposed to me after we climbed the 100+ steps 8yrs age...... re-visiting this year was still as surreal and as romantic! The Virgin Mary of the Sweet Kiss, sunset and proposal - cannot get more romantic!

This church is a must see if you are in the area. Aside from the 114 steep steps with a handrail, it is a beautiful church with an impressive view of the surrounding area. When you first enter the gate on top, there is a small faucet you can drink from or use to splash water on your face. TIP: Do not go on August 15 unless you get there very early. It is the feast day of the church, and you will not believe how many people are there.

The journey up to the church takes you up some really stunning 'alley ways', and when you get to the bottom of the rock that the church sits on, the many steps up to this church are well worth it as the inside of the church is absolutely stunning.Also, the views from the church, which overlooks Petra are well worth the many steps.The church is used for services so you need to be respectful in your clothing. They ask you to cover knees and shoulders.I would highly recommend a visit and it's FREE (although it's well worth a generous donation).

114 steps! not too bad if you go when its cooler! church is open for you to look inside, but legs and shoulders have to be covered to be respectful, if not don't go in!

There is nothing to dislike. It is a must visit. Worth the little climb to the top as the views are spectacular. Inside is also just as beautiful.

Well worth climbing 114 steps to get lovely views and to see inside the ornate church, typically Greek but still interesting.

The church of Panagia is bult at the top of a rock cliff, you have to come up 114 scales to reach the top, but it's definitely worth it. The view from up there is also spectacular.

the climb up the 114 steps, to this beautiful little church can be a little hard for the elderly or those with mobility issues, but the church is beautiful and the views of Petra town from the top are amazing.this church stands out in Petra, you can see it from anywhere in town.for me it was a must see when i visited this town.i highly recommend it.
