What a beautiful church with such a powerful story of reconstruction after the war. There is a small fee to climb the tower stairs to take in the views, and you have to climb 300+ stairs, but well-worth the effort. This is a must see site in Munich.
Went on a beautiful sunny Saturday afternoon and completed the tower tour in 30 minutes, Great views of the city, 302 steps to get to top
Worth the hike up to the top of the tower for the great view of munich. The way up is pretty narrow and the hike is tough so take your time to go up. The viewing platform is also very narrow, so have to squeeze your way through
Nearly 300 steps to the top requires some effort but it's worth it. There is 360° panoramic view waiting for you. I was lucky enough to be there on a beautiful serene morning and could see not just all the city but also the Alps on a horizon!Preferably visit in the early morning right after the opening, as queuing on the narrow wooden staircase later in the day could feel a bit claustrophobic
The church was in the middle of a service so we only got a quick glimpse, but it was beautiful! The entrance to the tower is from the outside. It's 306 steps to the top! It feels very safe but pace yourself because it's exhausting. The view from the top is magnificent, plus when you are near the top, you can look through the windows in the stairwell to see the giant church bells.
This was one of the only churches or cathedrals we visited on this trip to Munich....but we really enjoyed the architecture and even part of a service. Be sure to stop in on the way between the Rathaus and Marketplace...and find Cafe FrischHut for Schmalznudel around the corner.
As the title says,it's a very beautiful church, near Odeonplatz station, and not so far away from Marienplatz. It's a beautiful church, inside and outside. Visit it if you have the choice
Beautiful baroque interiors with white and gold theme. Loved every minute spent here. One of the oldest church in Munich.
Beautiful church inside and out. Make sure you spend the 2 euros to climb the tower to get a nice view of the city and especially of marienplatz and the town hall. If you time it right (1030) you can watch the clock on the new tower at 1100. It's a nice show.
The oldest church in Munich with a Baroque interior that will leave you speechless is just the beginning. The climb to the top of the tower will give you a view of the city and miles of countryside worthy of special mention. Join those coming back down with encouragement for those climbing up--they can use it.
