We stopped by here after having visited Ulm. Beautiful. Depending on what time of the day you are there the water color is different. Nice place to cool down and relax and just enjoy. They have a lot of parking but on holidays and weekends it can be very crowded.

The Blautopf means blue pot. It is a spring that serves as the source of the river Blau. It is located on the city of Blaubeuren. If you walk around the pot you will see that the color of the water changes. We went in the afternoon and we walked around the pot to find at the end the turquoise color of the spring. The village is very pleasant to walk around.

On a Christmas market tour and we stopped here on a whim! Small flea market was going on! Beautiful little town with some great photo opportunities! Worth the stop if you are in the area!

Ignore the tacky gift shops and head straight for the Blautopf. Magic! It won't keep you occupied for very long, but it is still worth a detour because of its extraordinary beauty.

The Blue Pond holds a secret. Her name is Lau and she is the beautiful water nymph who lives at the bottom of the pool. The story is a fascinating one and if you believe try and find her face in the pool as you look into it's depths. The blue is constantly changing from light blue to a very dark blue as the light moves across its waters. It is a small and magical place and it should not be missed if you are in the area.

The walk around the bright blue pond is lovely and a must for the photo album. The village itself is also very pleasant to walk around or enjoy a coffee and browse the few shops.

The pond is very small and takes only about 5 minutes to walk the entire perimeter, but the water is very clear and a beautiful blue! We walked around the tiny town as well and the town people were very friendly.

If you are biking the Danube or in Ulm then this attraction is well worth a visit. Its amazing the amount of water that seems to appear from nowhere

We've made a day trip to Blaubeuren to see the beautiful old city and the mill with the Blautopf. The lake is very pretty, especially during the noon time, when the water reflects the sunshine and its amazing turquoise color. You can walk around the small lake, and its takes only a few minutes. In front of the mill is a sweet cafe.Unfortunately the cave under the Blautopf is only permitted to enter for scientific personnel only.We booked us a ticket with the "Bimmelbahn" for only 7 Euros and it was worth it to see the area around as well.

Look into a deep blue pond of clear water and understand the fairy tale of the beautiful Lau, who is a mermaid living in the Blautopf, the spring of the river Blau, coming out of a cave system in the Schwäbische Alb. Have nice local meals in Blaubeuren with Spätzle, Maultaschen and a good Braten.

Unbelievable water colour. Read up on the caves below the Blautopf and the fairy tales about it. Old church close by and nice walks.

Delightful village which has beautiful winding waterway through the town, incorporated with little bridges to homes and restaurants. This attraction is interesting in itself but the whole quaint area deserves accolades. Walk around and check out all the snails! Villagers are welcoming.

This spring comes in the most amazing turquoise color in an idyllic village setting. A walk around the spring pool is a must for different view angles of the lovely pool and the water mill next to it. In addition, what not to miss is a stroll in a quaint village not too far from the spring (well, I am not sure if it is indeed a village). There is an old wooden door opens to a what appears to be the village square surrounded by colorful half-timbered traditional homes and two nice churches. It was a quintessential traditional German village and was so quiet there that we didn't see any tourist at all other than the two of us.
