There are the most beautiful waterfalls in Schwarzwald. There are several routs different in length from 30 min till about 3 hours walk. Good for children, but pay attention that part of the rout is the way up.
amazing walk. Two hours is enough to enjoy the route easily (with a lot of scenary stops). Don't miss if you're in the area!
Todtnau waterfall is not the attraction you would seek out, however if you are in the area (it's a short ride from Freiburg or Basel) it's worth considering for a family picnic trip. Takes 15 minutes to get to the waterfall and then another 30-60 to wander around. Parking is free and there are multiple ways to access the site - restaurant at the bottom of the mountain or a small parking spot closer to Todtnauer. On site there is no food nor beverages - just nature.
After seeing the Triberg waterfall this one takes teh cakeEasy to accessReally impressive with great viewsA must on your way to of from the Todtnau Hasenhorn Coaster (we know this is the real attraction:) )
suitable for young children, the hike is not too long, and the view of the waterfall is beautiful. Not a must-go however recommended if you're in the area.
a 10 minutes walk takes you to the middle of the forest and to the amazing waterfall near Todnau. Nice setting and convenient to reach
Located in the Black Forest the scenery on the way and the ambiance is captivating. Fantastic hands on nature experience.
Nice waterfall to visit and relax. Very nice view on local beauty. Great place to eat breakfast or supper.Definitely to visit.
you can visit it without mountain shoes, or make a tour around the falls, but then you'd better put on good shoes.
nice place, close to the main road, not far from the parking, you can select the length of the walk (minimum is approx. 1.6 km round trip). Water is cold and accessible, wood couches near the falls
Went walking down the town of Todtnauberg and reached the gates to the steps leading down to the waterfall. You could hear the sound of the water flowing downhill and the calm and cool breeze that surounds you. The path down is a bit small and tough for the first few minutes of the journey but the steps built is better and helps the person climb down fast. Took some breaks as i went down to the end of the waterfall stopping by to feel the cold water. Overall was good experience climbing down but up was literally breath taking. Would not advise for people who have breathing troubles but nature lovers would enjoy it.
The Todtnau Waterfalls is the highest waterfall on Black forrest and in Germany: about 97m.Very nice place to visit.2 excursions are proposed: one of about 1.5 km and another one of 3km.We made both even it was raining, very beautiful. We can reach the top of the waterfalls which is closed to Todtnauberg (ski resort).Recommend to see this place.
The route is marked clearly and easy to navigate your way. The waterfalls are amazing with nice resting area in front. The place offer few trips with different length. No entry fee!!!
You don't get to the waterfalls like a normal tourist with your car; you get there after a 3 km walk in the forest, where you can find "beverage stations" to extinguish your thirst for a bargain. The stations are maintained by a local organisation, we found the idea excellent!
The waterfall is about 100m and quite lovely to see. The entrance from the road leads to the base of the falls, then you can walk up via stairs/pathways to the top, stopping to take pics here and there. The place is tranquil and relaxing. We spent about 2 hours just exploring the area and then had a nice lunch at the kiosk just outside the entrance.
