Tubingen's market square is every bit as lovely as many others in Germany, including Limburg, Marburg and even Rottenburg. But, it's on a small scale, making it very people-friendly and inviting.
Awesome, look at those buildings around the Market Square, restored, colourful, a great place to soak up history
This are of Tubingen is very pretty, but the square is small and explored pretty quickly (under 15 min and that's if you're really taking your time). It's lovely but the town isn't something you can make a day trip out of (a third-maybe half a day at best). I was just personally underwhelmed and recommend visiting Tubingen only if it's on the way to another destination (such as Bad Urach or Bebehausen).
Charming old city. There are little markets and cafes to visit in the center, along with many local stores! It is a very nice city- one of my favorites!
First week of December this lovely college town hosts a chocolate festival. Parking was not hard to find and all the people in this town was lovely. The towers of chocolate fountains made our trip, what great eats. Fun trip with my chocolate loving teen.
Nice square, very nice atmosphere, several cafés (Try for instance "Ranitzky"), lots of timber frame houses. If possible go on a market day (Mon, Wed, Fri in the mornings).
The most attractive building of Tubingen can be found on this square. I am of course speaking about the 15th- century Muncipality which has a huge and is well decorated. A coffee or a drink in the nearby bars will make your day.
We stopped through here on our way to Stutgart and it was beautiful. It was a great place to have a beer with our group and just enjoy the outdoors. They were setting up for some outdoor markets while we were there and we wish we could have come back to see the goods!
A Classic German town in a city full of students. The buildings in the square are beautiful. Enjoy the view and have a coffee.
It has old world and new world charm, you can witness people from across world in this market place.basically students from Tubingen university.
Tübingen is one of the most beautiful medieval towns, and I've visited many of them... Stroll in the alleys of the old town will lead you to the magnificent market square surrounded by half timbered picturesque buildings and the impressive town hall. Worthwhile to get here in the morning in order to enjoy the hustle and bustle of the flower, fruit and vegetables market in the square.
This is another amazingly well preserved medieval town. Located about 40 minutes south of Stuttgart, this is a thriving university town with lots of hustle and bustle. But, walking through the old town is amazing. The market square is surrounded by half-timbered buildings that are hundreds of years old, and the town hall is a work of art, although undergoing a major facelift that is scheduled until 2015. There are many narrow passages that lead into other old cobblestoned streets with even more medieval buildings, and perhaps the most stunning view is from the bridge looking up-river a the houses the line the river. The burg at the top of the hill is now part of the university, but is worth the hike as it provides a good view of the town below.
