Former hotel Königsstuhl, built end 18e century by Joseph Kügelgen. It was once “Kurkönische Amtshaus” (electorate of Cologne administrative building) dating back to 1557, built under Hessian pledgeeship, 18th century it became the seat of an Electoral Cologne landdrost (drossaard, Reeve or Steward, title of various officials with local jurisdiction). Half-timbered House, partially massif, Mansard roof, complex with garden, since 1706 hotel Königstuhl (at present unoccupied for several years, its sale price dropped 200,000 euros but still no is interested as it will cost a fortune to bring it up to date). Many of the old details were preserved, including: a valuable collection richly carved Eltzer, antique cabinets and 17th century chests, antique oil paintings, beautiful chandelier in the dining room (called King's Hall). Among the famous personalities who stayed there: Goethe, Haydn, Mozart and Hoffmann von Fallersleben. Situated on the embankment side, by warm weather it was possible to sit in the outdoor seating area under chestnut trees and enjoy the view on the Rhine all the way up to the Marksburg.
