This museum is located in a picturesque but tourist crammed village. It is in interesting building and has an excellent wide collection of instruments. However...they are not well maintained. On our tour most were out of tune or not performing well. Easily overcome...

We didn't know what to expect, but thoroughly enjoyed the tour and the delightful range of instruments. Loved the bird music boxes! Nice streets to tour around both to-and-from this destination as well. Worth the visit and entertaining too!

A fantastic small museum staffed by delightful multi-lingual young ladies full of mechanical musical machines, from hurdy-gurdies to pipe organs, barrel organs to a fairground organ. I was allowed to play "The Happy Wanderer" by cranking an old barrel organ, my debut as a musician at trhe age of 78!

We had this booked for us by our trip coordinator with rail discoveries, so we had an English tour. It is a short visit with a few exhibits demonstrated. The rest of Ruddesheim was a bit closed looking after Christmas with the Christmas market packed up. We have visited the Music Forest at Lake Kawaguchiko in Japan, so this place is very small by comparison. You don't really get time to see all the exhibits as the guide just shows and talks about one in each room

This was my second visit to this museum in one year. I look forward to another visit in 2016. The restored musical cabinets are a pure wonder and delight. There are dozens of instruments from around the world dating to the late 19th and early 20th centuries. To see one such mechanical music cabinet operate like a full orchestra is fascinating. Wait until you see the violins.

Stepping back in time but learning how amazing these people were in creating music and crafting beautiful cabinetry to hold it.

A trip to this interesting museum was an optional evening tour for our Xmas Market cruise. What a pleasure. The guide was knowledgeable and interesting and the instruments were intriguing. Loved the canaries and music boxes. A treat.

On a Rhine cruise to the Christmas markets our second stop was in Rudesheim where we visited the museum. Our guide was excellent and the tour absolutely fascinating. We were able to take photographs and videos and enjoy the gift shop at the end of the tour. Koblenz on the previous day had been a little disappointing so this was a perfect pick me up. Rudesheim itself was a lovely experience, lots of interesting market stalls and the delicious Rudesheim coffee.

Player pianos, Player Victrolas, player organs, Player just about everything and then some. You MUST see this place to believe. A work of engineering marvel. The kids will love it more than the adults. Very entertaining.

Having visited Christmas markets in Cologne and Rusdesheim a brief interlude in this charming museum was a perfect break. The guide was suerb, he answered all our questions, was knowledgeable and amusing. The gift shop had a wonderful range of things and was reasonably priced.

The museum was part of a city tour we took - definitely not worth wasting your time here. It contained old mechanical musical instruments. Others in our group enjoyed the museum, but we found it a complete waste of time.

Visited as part of our Rhine River cruise. Countless mechanical musical instruments, from tiny pieces to entire orchestras! The tour is fascinating and we got to hear several play. They have them spaced out in different rooms so while one is playing, you aren't distracted by others playing in other rooms. It's well worth the time and entrance fee. Many small devices available in the gift shop.Side note: if you didn't have time to shop at the famous Christmas store in Heidelberg, there is the same shop, slightly smaller, next door to the Museum.

Our tour included the visit to this Museum and we did have the chance to view different kinds of musical instruments in the past. It was a really delightful tour and we have enriched our knowledge in this aspect.

Went here on a tour as part of our river cruise. Beautiful place, very informative and a delightful tour guide. It is certainly a piece of musical history worth seeing

Initially we were put off by encountering the only rude German of our entire trip - but even she softened upon further acquaintance and deigned to smile. An outstanding insight into the history of music and well worth a visit.
