We cruised down the Mosel valley on a river boat cruse. Every turn of the river had an excellent new view to enjoy. I wish I get the chance to return and I plan on enjoying our time a lot more slowly. Fine wines and very nice people throughout the valley.

I came to the Mosel Valley almost 38 years ago, the people are friendly and the food is excellent, the area is full of romantic charm. every little village has a special building of interest that draws you in to a history of how life was, I am sure that is why I ended up living here and being able to host other traveller's as a tour guide in beautiful Bernkastel-Kues.

A beautiful place, the klettersteig walks are fabulous, and the wines are world-famous. Very pretty place, too. But the odd thing, for a place with such wonderful and famous wine, is that the food is generally boring, the same wherever you go, and not very good. It's bizarre. Surely, with lots of wine tourists, there's a market for some good restaurants - as you'd find in the Rhone, Burgundy, Bordeaux, Piedmont, Tuscany and the Loire...

We did a bicycle path from Metz to Koblenz. The cycle path is excellent and the panoramas are very beautiful along all the path. Book the hotels well in advance since they get full booked very early.

I were on a buisness trip to Saarbrucken and we had to go to Frankfurt Airport the next day. My collegue mentioned the mosel walley and i thought it seemed interesting when we had the rental car for a longer time than needed. So we drove through it all, very nice, this was in january but i can only imagine how beautiful it would be in the summer :) just do it !

Not so well known th eMoesel vally is a nice area for nature lovers. Nice flat roads to easy bike combined with wine bars and Cellars and th eoccosaional casttle or old villages such as Bernkastel.. Ideal for camping like we did with a motor home at one of teh wine estates.

This is a beautiful valley, extending from the Rhine River west into Luxembourg. Its not as well known as the Rhine but in many ways it is much more scenic. There are castles, picturesque small towns, Roman ruins, vineyards and the meandering river itself, all within close proximity. If you are on the whirlwind European tour of capital cities, this is probably not a place for you, rather this is a place for the more leisurely traveler who has time to spend. There are a lot of individual attractions along the river between Trier and Koblenz. Enough said, experience the river yourself, you won't regret it.

If ever in Germany, go and take a trip along the Mosel. Castles, romantic towns, great white wines and that magical atmosphere many look for in Europe. A bit of a fairytale surrounding. When it snows you might believe you're in Disneyworld for that matter.I stayed in Bernkastel-Kues at the vineyard of the family S.A. Prüm, the name being common by the Mosel river. Everything is easy here. You can park in Bernkastel just alongside or partially under the bridge for 1.20 euro per I do not know how many hours. Anyway more than enough to walk around, have a good meal, drink a glass of wine, walk around the Weihnachtsmarkt and walk back to your car. At this time of year it can be crowded with mainly Dutch and German tourists, so you park on the other side of the same bridge and walk some ten minutes to the center of this small town. Many restaurants will provide you with good, honest and very affordable food. And there is a variety of choices; from Indian to typical German delicious food.The city of Trier I will avoid from now on, because it is obviously living in the past and surviving on history. Filthy walkways, excrements on the streets, cigarettes and sticky gum, many beggars and too little to see. Yes, there is the Porta Nigra and some Roman buildings, the people are friendly, but the town itself has changed for the worse in the last two decades and the christmasmarket is small and totally uninteresting. I came, saw en fled. The Romans did better by doing the Veni, Vidi, Vici thing. I was told that most of the money the German central government provides in keeping cities and towns on an interesting level, is now being spend in the eastern part of Germany. But that does not explain why they do not clean the place up. Goodbye Trier it is for me.So, do the Mosel Valley tour and be inspired for decades to come.

We went to the Mosel Valley and the Rhine River Valley from Cologne on a day trip. The weather was very cold in Cologne and we decided to do some driving so we could stay warm and see the sights.It was about 1.5 hours down to the Rhine River, and then we took a country road from St. Goar over to the Mosel Valley after having lunch at Hotel Schloss Rheinfelds. The drive across to Mosel Valley was wonderful. We drove about 40 miles along the Mosel River. It was a wonderful drive and a great day.

We have visited Trier, Bernkastel-Kues & Traben-Trabach. Beautiful places. Bernkastel had just opened it's Christmas market. These towns are like from a fairy tail. Easy to find, easy to park, good food. Magical during Christmas holidays, decorated everywhere.We also did a 1h cruise that went from the parking of Bernkastel & cost 8€ per person (kids for free). Really worth it. It does not go that far but it is nice to sit inside in a heated room with tables (it is like bar-restaurant). You can have something to drink & to eat or just sit & enjoy the scenery.

If looking for a great many North American tourists get back into your car. This beautiful tranquil valley full of vineyards, history, a castle, and Europeans. I would think it would be a great deal fun during harvest season.

The valley of the Mosel is very nice and there are lots of things to do in high season, but while the nature is nice in the fall and winter, low season is pretty dead. The benefits: no crowds and calm walks but a lot of hotels and restaurants are closed so no evening activities. One huge downside: if you go for walks, you either need to get a map of more than 6 euros of you get lost in the forests because the tourist information only gives you a topografic map no one can read and they do not speak English and everthing is in German. The visitors center in Bernkastel-Kues is terrible, the walk from there to Traben-Trarbach is very nice but also very confusing due to the total lack of signs. Instead of 2 hours we got lost in a forest for 4 hours and just got out in time for dark. Nice region, but Germany seriously, you need to invest more in qualitative routes in your touristic regions.

Bernkastel-Kues is photogenic town located in the Mosel valley. Nice vineyards and many restaurants. Do not miss the Cusanus-Stift or the Nicholas von Kues-Home (now a Museum).

We were staying with friends near Wuppertal. And one day our friend took us to the Mosel Valley. We just loved it. Wasn't packed with 'tourists', but seemed more locals than people from outside of Europe, which made it more special. Lovely towns along the river, vineyards, and some little castles. Took some lovely pictures along the river.

This region has the best wine ever! So calm, so beautiful. Right on the river, everywhere you go here is amazing. Stay in one of the winery hotels and you will not regret it!
