it's impressive! we heard about it and stopped by during our stay in abruzzo. it's worth a visit!dating back in the middle age (871 according to Chronicon Casauriense), it is very well preserved and still used today.. (luckily we arrived an hour before a wedding was celebrated).

We don't live far from this wonderful Abbey but it's the first time we visited it. We were not disappointed, just sorry we had waited so long! Over and around the bronze door there are lovely historical sculptures. Go down to the crypt, it's really something. There is also a small museum and lovely gardens. There is parking outside and the Abbey can be reached by the A25 motorway, exit Torre de Passeri. It is advisable to check visiting times.

We visited this Abbey with a friend. It is a majestic building and very tranquil. There are gardens to wander around, though not big, and a museum. It is only open in the mornings so timing of your visit is essential. I would certainly put this on the agenda for other friends to visit.

A very beautifull and tranquil place. Never tire of visiting this Abbey. The Gardens are well worth a stroll around. Access to the Abbey is good and there is plenty of parking.

We visited late in the day when no one was around, very quiet and different from traditional churches. Especially beautiful site when the sun is going down on the snow capped mountains.Don't forget to pop into Torre de Passeri to the Bar del Corso for a delicous home made icecream after your visit!

As any roman church, this is simple, old ad incredibly charming. You can admire pure white stone and enjoy some quiet in the small garden.

The abbey has been renovated after the earthquake. It is extremely simple and unfussy with an atmosphere of great tranquillity. If you can go when it is dark there is very good lighting which lend an extra atmosphere. Just step in and there are sensors which switch the lights.

A truly remarkable medieval abbey off the beaten track. It is a real jewel in Abruzzo since there is no place comparable to this one for historical importance and beauty. It is really well preserved and well worth the visit, which is free of charge!The interior truly reflects an early romanesque style of construction and the interior still keeps its auraThe altar, made by recycling a paleochristian sarcophagus of the IV century, contained a precious urn with the relics of San Clemente. That same urn is now on display in the abbey.The Ambon is noteworthy for its intricate and fine stone carvings. Not to be missed an interesting tomb of an early bishop is found by the entrance and the crypt below the abbey.

Un vero capolavoro di arte romanica che affascina chiunque abbia la possibilità di ammirarlo ed apprezzarlo.Ormai sono anni che mi fermo ad "amarlo" ogni volta che passo da quelle parti anche con obiettivi completamente diversi tipo gustare gli ottimi arrosticini di Torre de' passeri ed accompagnarne la digestione con il Centerbe Toro.E' troppo forte l'attrazione di un portico semplicissimo che ossequiosamente precede tre portali di cui quello centrale rappresenta una meraviglia nella meraviglia con decorazioni bronzee di rara bellezza.L'interno è possibile vederlo con discrezione dopo il terremoto del 2009 ma ne è rimasta fortunatamente integra la bellezza:Segnalo soltanto un pulpito essenziale che da solo meriterebbe un viaggio.Tralascio i "resti" archeologici che impreziosiscono ulteriormente l'esterno contribuendo ad arricchire un'atmosfera fascinosa.

L'Abbazia di San Clemente a Casauria è un luogo d'arte meraviglioso. Il luogo è bello già di suo, circondato com'è dai monti dell'Appennino abruzzese con la Majella in bella vista, guardando verso ovest, dal giardino dell'Abbazia. L'Abbazia è un capolavoro di arte romanica di età antichissima, anno 800 circa. L'interno appare spoglio con ampi spazi, ma subito si scoprono preziosissimi tesori d'arte: l'ambone, il ciborio, il candelabro fino alla cripta e al crocefisso del '400. Suggestiva la luce e i suoi riflessi sulla pietra bianca. Attorno all'Abbazia vi è un incantevole e verdissimo giardino, tenuto benissimo, nel quale è possibile fare una piacevole passeggiata. Molto particolare il piccolo vigneto posto al lato sud, che regala un intenso colpo d'occhio. Interessante anche l'annesso museo. Consiglio vivamente di visitare questo posto magico.

È stata una piacevole deviazione dal viaggio in autostrada. Appena usciti dal casello di Torre de Passeri ci si ritrova in questo posto incantevole immerso nel verde e nel silenzio. L'abbazia è tenuta in maniera impeccabile, tutto è ben curato. L'interno della chiesa custodisce dei capolavori assoluti di splendida fattura. All'esterno si possono vedere dei resti archeologici. Nel pieno spirito monastico c'è anche una vigna alle spalle dell'edificio. Tutto riporta alla spiritualità medievale.

Un sito imponente e raccolto al tempo stesso. Purezza di linee, pietra bianca, armonia, una cripta tenuta benissimo.Andrebbe valorizzata meglio...magari facendo pagare un biglietto d'ingresso per contribuire al mantenimento di un luogo così bello e importante.

Una cattedrale dove si può ammirare tutta la bellezza dell'arte romanica, bisogna pubblicizzarla di più!!!!Comunque consiglio vivamente di visitarla

Di ritorno da Scanno con mia figlia e visto che l' abbazia e vicina all' autostrada, ho voluto farle visitare la Chiesa dove,come già detto,nella precedente recensione, mi sarei voluta sposare. Stranamente in tanti anni non ce l'ho mai portata. È rimasta positivamente sorpresa della bellezza dell'abbazia e dalla ottima conservazione. Se non vi ho convinto con la prima recensione vi ribadisco che vale una sosta se amate le cose belle.

L'abbazia di San Clemente si trova nel territorio di Castiglione a Casauria vicino l'uscita autostradale di Torre de Passeri. E' molto antica ed e' una location perfetta per matrimoni da favola. Danneggiata dal sisma del 2009 e' tornata al suo antico splendore dopo una serie di restauri che hanno richiesto alcuni anni. Bellissima e molto suggestiva. Da visitare
