Loved the coffered ceiling with carved figures, some of the chapels and the dramatic red velvet curtains up by the altar.

Although off the normal tourist route, a visit to the Basilica is well worth a diversion or special trip to Tolentino, St. Nicholas was a thirteenth-century saint and mystic, famed for the many miracles for which it is said he is responsible. There are various parts to the basilica. Apart from the main altarpiece (created Marchisiano di Giorgio in the early sixteenth century) the main church is of less interest than the annexes. Most important is the 'cappellone' with wall paintings created in 1305, shortly after the saints death. They are truly spectacular and, although in a much smaller space, of almost as much interest as the much more visited wall paintings of Giotto in Assisi. In another chapel, there is a spectacular ceiling and important paintings on the wall. The tomb of St. Nicholas is in a vault. The beautifully-balanced front facade of the basilica is spectacular. If you're in the Marche, this is really worth a visit.

The entire place is beautiful. If you have religious interest this is a very important sanctuary related with St. Nicola. But the most relevant things are the extremely beautiful artistic works outside and inside the church. Differents stiles and magnificent details. The front of the church; the cripta; the cloister; the tumb of the saint; etc. Of particular interest are the frescoes by Piatro da Rimini. Fascinating everything!

This sanctuary is a large, beautiful, prayerful complex. It is well worth stepping into the basilica as it is stunning. But keep moving to see the crypt and the special chapel with relics. Most beautiful is the main chapel that was intended to house the body of San Nicola. The frescoes by the school of Rimini have influence of Giotto. It is wonderful to sit and take in the beauty of these art works. From here you can walk around the cloisters which create a space for peace and prayer. Most worthwhile.

The home of a devout and scholarly monastic community, but also a place of great historical and artistic importance, and very beautiful, especially the coffered and gilded ceiling of the church and the fresco-cycle in the chapel. Don't miss the Renaissance cloister and the museum with, among other things, a fascinating collection of votive objects recording cures once wrought by the saint. (There's also an important library, but if you want to use that you should ring up beforehand.)

Basilica molto interessante sia nella facciata che nell'interno, ma certamente il punto di forza è il Cappellone di S. Nicola, decorato con splendidi affreschi trecenteschi.

Un ristoro perfetto per l'accoglienza, la bontà del cibo, la gentilezza delle persone, lo spazio, l'atmosfera...tutto. Alleluja!

la chiesa è bellissima, il chiosco, il capellone, e tutto il resto, da visitare mi è sempre piaciuta come chiesa, sarà perché ho festeggiato il mio matrimonio, ahahah

Chiesa molto bella e suggestiva, da visitare la tomba di San Nicola . Bello il chiosco interno e le navate arricchite da molte decorazioni sacre

Большие красивые залы: часовня, базилика... Можно бесконечно разглядывать. Рядом есть музей с коллекциями. На все изучение может понадобиться около часа.Очень рекомендую к посещению тем, кто интересуется искусством, и путешествует по региону Марке.

per ignoranza conoscevo solo san Nicola di Bari e invece ... la Basilica di san Nicola da Tolentino è molto bella, accogliente. Grazie al padre agostiniano che vedendoci un po' sperduti ci ha avvicinato, ha raccontato la storia di san Nicola, della Basilica, ... BELLO!

Il portale e il chiostro sono belli. L'interno è rimaneggiato e illuminato ad oltranza ( in compenso il riscaldamento non viene fatto funzionare e i fedeli restano al gelo)

Io sono di Tolentino, è una chiesa stupenda piena d'opere d'arte e con il corpo di San Nicola nella cripta.I frati sono persone fantastiche,in special modo Padre Massimo. Da visitare!

Se da fuori non sembra nulla di speciale, all'interno è meravigliosa!Oltre ad ammirare gli affreschi, consiglio di visitare anche visitare i piani inferiori con la cripta.Proprio una bella sorpresa, scovata per caso di passaggio per Tolentino!

Favolosa la chiesa nella sua maestosità , barocco non pesante che risulta gradevole agli occhi. Da visitare sicuramente il cappellone con i suoi affreschi e il loggiato affrescato anche quello.
