The views of this old castle are truly outstanding. It is located right on the lake, on a peninsula jutting out so that there is water on all sides. Truly gorgeous and well worth the drive from Milan. While you are in Sirmione eat fish, buy some good wine and olive oil, and take a thermal bath in the spa.

This a small structure with its' walls and moat but it guards the entry into wonderful Sirmione. You can go halfway up and walk around the walls or all the way up for a better view. It doesn't take long but it gives you a perspective of the city and the lake. It was very crowded in the stairs and walks. go early or late afternoon.

Was there in December.. It was almost night and the city was covered by fog, but anyway the view was very nice especially coz there were lights everywhere and Xmas atmosphere was in the air. I hope to visit this place in summer time.. must be amazing with all the nature & lake

This was fun seeing Rocca Scaligera. After wandering inside we climbed to what we thought was the top but was only half way in which you can walk around the walls. We then climbed the tower to the top. Amazing views from here. Loved Sirmione and wished we stayed longer than our one night. So much to see.

The castle itself is not really big, so the visit is quite short, but it is an interesting visit, especially the closed harbour built directly on the lake. Also, the 360-degree view is nice at the top of the tower.

We were driving from Venice to Stresa and took a side trip to Sirmione along the way. As soon as we spotted Castle Scaligero we stopped and entered to grounds. After a lengthy climb to the top we were greeted by excellent views of the castle and Lake Garda. It is highly recommended that you not miss this attraction if you're in the area.

We arrived by bus from Pescheria del Garda on a very busy Sunday to the picturesque town of Sirmione and immediately saw the landmark castle. The entry was free on this particular day and it was very interesting to walk around the castle and climb to the different levels to take in the way the castle defences worked as well as the beautiful views. Well worth a visit.

Very interesting and a lot of historic findings. You also have a very good view of the Garda sea and the sorroundings..

the kids loved it. Nice view from the windows. Don't forget to check the really old wooden barks (boats) at the entrance.

If your interested in the history around the castle and Sirmione this is the place to come, or, even if you just want some great photography, panoramic views with facts and artifacts relating to the town, well priced, central location. Don't miss the Chapel Ave Maria opposite, stunning, after four years I aways still visit at least once whilst I'm here.

For 4 euro or 2 euro for under 25's this place is well worth a visit. Great views from the top and an interesting taste of history.

I had never heard of Sirmione until my girlfriend suggested to visit the town, and it was such a great surprise to find this awesome castle ! The architecture is really beautiful, the entrance is very cheap and even though there isn't much to do inside apart from walking around the ramparts, the view is so amazing that it's really worth going. There wasn't much to read about the history of the castle apart some panels in Italian, so I had to check Google for the cultural side.

This is a small, picturesque castle and worth a visit but apart from the entrance area there is no additional information as you walk through. It would definite benefit from more interpretation boards. The views from the tower are worth the climb and it does get you away from the crowds in the town.

On a day trip to Sirmione we visited the castle. We paid the €4.00 ticket price and took a walk around the small castle and climbed the steps to take in the views from the towers. The entry price is reasonable at €4.00 but there is not a lot of info provided - we had to ask at the reception desk and we got a A4 paper (folded in 3) with historical information. So much more could be made of the castle with a bit more effort. It's a must do place on a trip to Sirmione and conveniently located in the centre of the town.

Guarding the entrance to the old walled city, the castle is impressive and makes for fantastic photographs. Sirmione itself is lovely though extremely busy. Plenty of places to eat - the main square to the left of the gate is very picturesque and there are the usual tourist shops. Narrow streets away from the centre are probably a joy to explore and there is a small, shale, beach. Lots of icecream vendors selling extremely delicious icecreams. I believe you can go into the castle but unfortunately we didn't have time.
