Wow, Scarpe, the architect did a beautiful job of arranging and displaying fine artworks and relics inside a castle! Very nicely done and i teresting routes to take you up and down the many areas of the castle.
A truly great way to spend a morning or afternoon. So much history. This Museo is beautifully restored and a wonderful way to capture some of the history and heritage of beautiful Verona.
I traveled here in July of 2014 and thought it was very cool! The entire castle is surrounded by a huge moat and it is extremely interesting to walk around the grounds. Verona itself is a major walking city and I really recommend spending an entire day just getting lost amongst the tiny streets filled with old ruins.
The gardens outdoors surrounded by the moat are pleasant to look at and once inside the Castle the Roman statues and tablets, large metal bells used to signal warnings, and armory are interesting. There are lots of paintings from the 14th Century by Verona artists and there's are two Giovanni Bellini Madonnas and an Andrea Mantagne Madonna. Do walk outside on the Castle walkways for amazing views of Verona. This is definitely worth a visit.
A wonderful castle with an interesting bridge Verona's sights are all within walking distances if spread over two days or so.A great City
The castle was fun to walk in . The art was all at least 500 years old. From the keep views on th city are amazing. Would highly recommend
Visitors wend their way through the rooms of the Castelvecchio, admiring sculptures and paintings from different eras along the way. It's even possible to walk along the ramparts and get a view of the city from above. I recommend purchasing the Verona Card if you plan to visit other attractions.
Huge castle with beautiful views from the battlements. Lots of ancient religious artworks to look at if you like that sort of art!!!
This is an amazing castle on the edge of Verona centre, with beautiful landscaped groundsIt also houses one of the finest art galleries in Verona - well worth a visit
This is an amazing castle and the view from afar, particularly at night is beautiful. There is a huge collection of works, however the main facade of the fortified perimeter is worth the walk around its exterior, with its massive towers and the entrance arch on the bridge. It was last renovated in 2007 and it has transformed old art collections into one of the most advance and accredited museums in Europe they say. We loved it.
Much of the original castle may have been destroyed but its very effective re-modelling has turned it into a compact and informative survey of some major figures in Veronese art from the 12th to 17th centuries. Another part of Verona that delivers much more than its external appearance would suggest.
This was the most fantastic museum! Beautifully set out and some amazing art work and historic items beautifully preserved and displayed. Don't miss it!
this is a large collection of art set out in a very creative and easy to digest way that walks you through the old buildings and out onto the top of the outer walls of the castle for some lovely city views. We had teenagers and grandfather in tow and all loved it!
if you are interested in italian paintings of the 14/15th century this is a place to go. The works may not be grand, but there are a lot of interesting paintings, frescoes, also up to the 18th century.
Verona itself did not impress me. However the Castelvecchio was the high point of the visit. The vies from the bridge were outstanding.
