An engineering feat and is made up again after it was destroyed during one of the world war.Place is very romantic for couples.

The ponte degli alpini is also known simply as the ponte vecchio and is beautiful. Standing on it you get a beautiful view of the mountains and countryside. The ponte vecchio and the immediate area is a bit of a hot spot for the younger crowds, who meet on it and then head to the local bars.

This bridge is visually very interesting and leads to an area of the town thronged with bars and restaurants.Great buzz around the area at the weekend and really a good place to see and be see .

The bridge is probably the main attraction of Bassano del Grappa and very crowded on a Sunday afternoon. There is a small room/museum just of the bridge giving very good information about the history of the bridge, but unfortunately only in Italian, and various models of what the bridge looked like through the centuries. Entrance is free. On either side of the bridge there are a few nice cafes and bars with the traditional old Nardini distillery (now bar and shop) and the Poli Grappa museum being close together on one side. Very nice place to linger around for some time and get a taste of different Grappas. After all this is what the town is famous for.

Will never forget this place. Peaceful, lots of small restaurants around. Just loved it. Bring cash! Almost no place that will accept your credit card.

I think the bridge should become one of the historical landmarks of the region with its unique construction and the powerful stream of Brenta underneath carrying icy waters and gravel from the Alps. The place is surrounded with bars and interesting museums (Alpine museum. Grappa museum, Palazzo Sturm). On weekends it becomes a popular meeting point of local people; so it is worth to see more than once.

This is a charming old wooden bridge, beautifully situated in the center of the town and made out of weighty and historic wooden beams. It is a joy to walk over or under and it makes a fine place to sip an Aperitivo as the sun slips down over the Veneto

This bridge was built by Palladio the famous architect of the Italian renaissance. It was destroyed and rebuilt several time in the past centuries but kept the original structure. From this bridge you can have a magnificent view of a part of the town facing the river, if the day is sunny the spectacular colure will enjoy your eyes!

The bridge is a marvellous structure and although not original it is a credit to the Alpine who rebuilt it.The Alpini museum is at one end of the bridge and should be visited.

This bridge in Bassano del grappa is one of my favorite bridges in Italy. I heard it was built by shipmakers thus the shape of the roof that resembles the bottom of a ship. Every year there is a small parade by the Alpine military to celebrate the bridge.

A beautiful photo opportunity with the famous bar selling the local Grappa at one end, which is a must to try.

A great area to walk and stop for a drink. On this day there was a bridge festival and a local town choir singing and models of the bridge through the years on display. We had a Grappa in the bar at the end and if you are on the bridge look at the buildings around as they still have the bullet holes left in the plaster on the walls from WW2 conflicts. It's a town full of history and it's a great place to walk around and see.

We took a train from Venice for only 6 Euros taking just over 1 hour as a from a busy city. Unfortunately when we arrived there was a heavy thunderstorm and had to shelter quite a while in a little bar. Afterwards we headed down to the bridge but as it was still pouring we had to dash. We were stunned as to how beautiful this bridge was especially as it was covered. Stunning and in spite of the rain it was certainly well worth the visit and it was quite busy even in spite of the weather. Will visit again

Literally, you cannot miss this excellent attraction if you visit the center of the town. This old-fashioned covered, wooden bridge spans a small river and is flanked on both ends by cafes, restaurants, and of course shops specializing in Grappa. The view is pleasant and the pace is slow - one of those place where you feel you could spend the afternoon sipping coffee (or something stronger). Be sure to look for the trout swimming below the bridge!

We stopped off in Bassano del Grappa on a hot, June 2013 day en route to Padova from the Trento region, to see the much photographed Ponte Vecchio (also known as the Ponte degli Alpini) which spans the Fiume Brenta. Designed by the famous architect Andrea Palladio in 1569, it's been destroyed and rebuilt many times. The Ponte is beautiful, especially seen from the west bank of the river looking up into the medieval town. Bassano del Grappa, itself, is charming and well worth the visit if you are in the Veneto. I'll definitely go back to stay when next in Italia, so I can get to know the town better and photograph the Ponte in the early morning and at the golden hour...
