Architecture was spectacular. Lots to see and admire. Truly breathtaking to walk through the cathedral.

the trappist monks are in a lot of solitude, also there is a beautiful garden in the middle. Also one of the rooms have some beautiful stained windows. This gothic building is XI century and you are able to buy medicinal herbs, and they make a liquor and I actually bought some chestnut spread.

Having Italian family from this region, this church has a special significance to us, as my in-laws were married here 40 years ago. This was thier local church at that time, and during every trip back to Italy we marvel at the inherent beauty in the forms and structure of this medieval church. It's certainly much less decorated and much less traveled than your main tourist attractions in Italy, but I find it's simple austerity hauntingly beautiful. Because it's much less traveled, we've often found it empty, giving us the opportunity for quiet reflection and meditation.THE CHURCH: The church itself was completed in 1217, and its construction is based on elements of simplicity and poverty. Comprised of a central nave and two side aisles with a trancept and chior apse, the plan is your typical romanesque church plan. I'm told by family members that the baldacchino, or structure built over the altar, was originally conceived for St. Peter's in Rome, before Bernini was comissioned. It probably would have been too small for St. Peter's, but does fit perfectly with the scale of this church. It's quite a beautiful example, made of rich, polished marbles, which is in stark contrast to the exposed rough stone interiors of the church. Another area of note is the chior seating in the apse behind the altar -- very beautiful hand-carved figures adorn the seating. Also, the windows of the church are made of the most beautiful alabaster stone, which is so different than your usual stained glass.THE CLOISTER: Beyond the church is a small, rectangular cloister, enclosed on all four sides by mullioned windows with various column forms -- smooth, grooved or twisted. The flowers in the middle of the cloister always appear to be very well tended to, as does the rest of the facility. This is beautiful spot for rest and contemplation.THE SHOP: Our trips to Itay are not complete without a stop at the small, monk-run store on the left of the entrance to the complex. Here, we always bring home gifts of chocolate for family members (the dark chocolate with hazlenets is the best), honeys, and the amaro is pretty good for use as a digestive. There are also some ceramics of the local "ciocie" sandals, a traditional shoe worn by the people of the region. It's important to note, however, that the shop is closed daily in the afternoons between noon and 3 or 4, so try to time your visit accordingly.Because our family lives in this town, we've had the privilige of visiting this beautiful place many, many times through the years, and I always find something new and beautiful to discover. I hope that you'll find it as enchanting as I do!

I had been here as a teenager many years ago. I wanted to return to experience the peaceful setting and admire the Cistercian Abbey. Spend about an hour here at least. In the abbey shop you can buy products made by the monks themselves. I bought honey and an after dinner bitter (amaro) drink which I have found to be excellent.

Una delle abbazie più belle che abbia mai visto. La chiesa è stupenda. Tutto il luogo traspira pace e serenità che quasi quasi ti viene da farti suora o monaco....

Nel territorio del comune di Veroli, a 9 km dal centro, sulla via Maria, - raggiungibile facilmente anche dall'autostrada Frosinone-Sora - sorge l'abbazia di Casamari. Essa fu edificata sulle rovine dell'antico municipio romano denominato Cereatae, perchè dedicato alla dea Cerere. Il nome Casamari è di origine latina e significa "Casa di Mario", patria del console romano Caio Mario, celebre condottiero, nemico di Silla.

Per chi non la conoscesse l'Abbazia di Casamari merita assolutamente di essere visitata. Situata nel comune di Veroli, lungo la via Mària, è uno dei più antichi monasteri d'Italia che rispecchia nell'architettura e nella planimetria, i dettami propri dell'Ordine religioso dei Cistercensi.Pianta a croce latina, volte a crociera, abside e transetto rettangolari, caratterizzano l'austero e sobrio interno della chiesa. Oltre la Sala Capitolare, il Refettorio e la Farmacia, il Chiostro è uno degli spazi più suggestivi dell'intero complesso.

..in tutte le sue fattezze. Sono luoghi che vanno scoperti e vissuti sul posto, e ci si arriva agevolmente tramite l'autostrada roma-napoli per passare una piacevole giornata. Non sono luoghi divertenti e pieni di attrattive, personalmente consiglio la visita in questo luogo, e luoghi simili, a tutte le persone che vogliono passare una giornata in profondo raccoglimento spirituale..

Meta di molti visitatori sia in estate che in inverno, l'abbazia di Casamari (territorio di Veroli) è insieme storia cistercense e di architettura. Quasi millenaria, è un posto che non può mancare agli appassionati di Cattedrali ma anche ai fedeli.

meraviglioso complesso cistercense praticamente giunto intatto a noi, accanto alla strada ma straordinariamente isolata , strepitosa la facciata e l'interno, ma anche il chiostro e la terrazza che si affaccia nel curato orto è molto bello, sicuramente una delle più belle abbazie del centro Italia, se si aggiunge la biblioteca, la farmacia e la bella liquoreria in cui il giovane e gradevolissimo padre Paolo sa dispensare consigli e saggezza su prodotti ed acquisti di liquori, cioccolato etc etc. Un'eccellenza italiana

Avevo sentito parlare sempre molto di questa Abbazia e dopo averla visitata ne consiglierò la visita ad amici e parenti. Posto incantevole e tranquillo un posto suggestivo. Da non perdere il negozietto dove i cappuccini vendono liquori e cioccolata di loro produzione.

l'abbazia e' splendida tenuta benissimo con punto vendita oggetti e liquori .....l'atmosfera e' surreale anche perche' il tempo non era molto favorevole...piovoso e freddo.....

L'occasione era un matrimonio, fin da subito mi hanno sorpreso gli antipasti vari ricchi e succulenti. E i fritti vegetariani sfornati di continuo. Il tutto è stato servito in un armonico giardino sotto un vasto gazebo. La sala peincipale ha uno stile molto elegante e in perfetta sintonia con lw cerimonie da svolgere. Il servizio è stato nela norma per essere un matrimonio e le portate molto saporite. Vino sotto la media, un cesanese orfano. Molto bello il taglio della torta in una locatio adibita ad hoc.

L'Abbazia di Casamari è una delle più belle del centro Italia. Immersa nel verde, gode di un ottimo stato di conservazione. Stupenda.
