open-air art museum at pedvale

I really enjoyed this museum and wish I had gone to see it earlier. There are sculptures from many international artists. There is a shorter route which takes about an hour and a more extensive route which takes several hours. It's about 60 miles or 120 kms from Riga. It's easy to do in a day trip or staying overnight in Sabile or another nearby town. The only thing I didn't like was - I was charged 30 santims for a map of the museum. Since a map is pretty much needed to know what the various sculptures are and where to find them, I think it should included in the admission price.

A modern sculpture park in rural Latvia. This setting has many large outdoor sculptures from a number of international artists. Check the website for other events. There is a tavern with food on the grounds, and a guesthouse that you can stay in overnight. A quiet, rural setting. Well worth the trip from Riga (60 km).
