basilica of st. cyrillus and methodius

I stopped by in Velehrad completely by chance. I didn't know of its existence until half an hour before I got there.Velehrad is a small village, but the basilica is enormous. Therefore also no chance to miss it. At the premises is also a boarding school and further down the road is a hotel. Velehrad is a major pilgrimage center.The basilica is beautiful from the outside, but the inside is splendid. Especially the ceiling is decorated with extremely beautiful frescos. The best thing is that there are not many tourists, so you have the whole basilica almost for yourself. Unfortunately, taking pictures inside is not allowed. Pope John Paul II visited the basilica in 1990. You can see the sarcophagus of cardinal Špidlík, who died in 2010.
