Long drive and once you have seen it that is enough. Very impressive from the outside but the entrance fee is a bit steep. There was nothing happening when we were there but that is the problem in winter, everything is either closed or not operating. Personally I thought it wasn't worth the drive.

The Castle is really well renovated, the documentation for the tour is well written (not too much) and media are very well done. You can really feel like in the 15th century, with even some costume in the "garde-robe".A pity there is no so much furniture but that might come later.We have also enjoyed dances and musics performed by a local association who made a incredible job. They invited us to dance and we learnt some steps. I did enjoy the visit a lot, better than any other castle I visited before. I strongly advise you to visit maybe ensuring that the dancers and musicians will be there.

Perhaps I have been to too many places like this. It was a very good chateau by any standards. Not captivating or spellbinding, but very good. Affordable price, well explained, interesting hour walking around, then home. Would recommend it to anyone as part of a day out.

We were made to feel very welcome by the reception staff who spoke very good english. The authorities have done an amazing job of bringing this magnificent building back to life. It provides a fascinating insight into 'how the other half lived' all those years ago. I'd recommend a visit to anyone who has even half an interest in historic building.

We had some pretty bad weather during our visit and needed something to cheer us up so we (wife, 15 month old son and mum-in-law and me) choose to pop along and see this. Despite the grumpy gift shop staff the other staff were lovely and friendly. We left our pushchair with the costumed 'welcome' girl at the entrance and carries our little lad, allowing him to bum-shuffle around the chateau floors (dusty bum!). There are many rooms to explore and info boards in English too.It was well worth the admission price and parked was free and easy with picnic tables and walks including a beach just stones throw away. Great day and recommended.

The Regional Government has done a great job in restoring the structure of much of the Chateau from more or less total dereliction, clearly it's still a work in progress with one part of the site still without floors. There are no artefacts or furniture, just an absolutely fascinating building and excellent multi-lingual interpretive display boards giving insights into the use of the building and it's historical setting. The audio guide is also excellent, does more than recite the display panels and is easy to use.

Its a nice chateau. It takes about an hour to get around and its very interesting. Its worth a visit, not as expensive as some places and the kids can dress up.

A great place to visit. Plenty of grassy spaces around for picnics, even the car park has picnic tables by the lake. Lots of rooms to explore, including a room with themed games and another room full of medieval style lords and ladies clothing to get dressed up in and help you engage with your inner 5 year old! My own favourite part of the visit was seeing the tiled floor of the ducal chapel, which was unearthed about 40 years ago during excavations. On our last visit, this was laid out on the floor. Now, it has been mounted on three walls and is so much easier to see. After a visit to the chateau, you're only a stone's throw to the beach and the dunes which are an area of special interest, especially for bird watchers.

I have now visited the Chateau twice and it got better than first time. It's nice to see the restoration work being carried out to show visitors how it use to be like rather than just seeing a ruin. There is a little shop and cafe on site. Lot of walking up and down stairs and narrow corridors/doorways to be considered. I love this place and will be returning in future to see the rest of the restoration work.

I have visited the castle over the past 40 years and it has changed from quietly crumbling ruin, where children could run along the vertiginous battlements and peer over the sides towards the moat (no health and safety rules in those days!) to recently where it has been extensively restored, where the history of the people who lived there is being brought to life. The roofs and floors have been added, the pigeons have been deterred from nesting in the ruins and the stained glasses now make most of the castle watertight. As a child, I loved the adventure of exploring the nooks and crannies in the ruins and scaling the walls, but it is still good to return and appreciate the ongoing restoration. Lets hope it is not overdone.

Hi Gary from medieval company dukes leopards in jersey , was invited to see this castle by Christian tulons company from vanne, what a day out ,as I reenact in mont Orguiel castle jersey ,this chateau de suschino was a marvel ,in the early morning mist crossed the bridge fantastic gift shop the displays the best I have ever seen ,I was in awe of the restored flooring display ,so many tableauxs to see and clothing was perfect ,what a joy to admire time and money and effort put into it look at my photos as part also of tudor and medieval music group would be fantastic to play in it ,maybe if castle owners could arrange it ,be fantastic ,in jersey we do twinings of towns ,why not twin with mont Orguiel castle one of best castles in Europe to swop culture ideas and visit each other thank you Christian Tulon and your company from vanne my brother in arms Gary turner dukes leopards jersey and jerseys only official knight Templar

Great day out under 8s go free so great value. All rooms have English translation so it's really easy to visit. Beautifully restored there's even water in the moat!

The Château de Suscinio was mainly used as a hunting lodge by the Dukes of Brittany in medieval times. Today, for some reason I could not fathom, it has been singled out from other similar fortresses for extensive restoration, and the results are already very impressive. We thought we "would just take a look," but ended up spending two hours there. In fact, the work of restoring the site, which is ongoing, is one of the more fascinating aspects of the visit itself. The castle is a large one and there are a number of ducal buildings that have been more or less completely restored and can be visited, the only drawback of the work to date perhaps being the use of concrete floors rather than wooden beams. Although this is in a somewhat remote corner of Brittany, being out on the Pointe de Rhuys peninsula, it is quite worth the visit and we were very glad we went.

Enjoyed our visit to the castle. I have been there various times ( including 4 years ago and probably around 25years ago!) and i m glad to see it keeps improving. Restoration work is ongoing but has progressed massively. Interactive activities for the kids is getting better and i must say that my girls enjoyed the visit as much as we did. They particularly enjoyed dressing up in dresses from the Middle Ages and looking for the kids activities on their little booklet. Us adults enjoyed looking at the restoration work, at the beautiful recovered tiles and most particularly the wall walk with the most beautiful scenery, with a sea view. And to all those working at restoring the castle: Keep up the good work!
