It us uniquely beautiful but avoid the summer time, July and August as it is too crowded and awful traffic jams .

The calanques are easy to visit by boat from Cassis. Beatiful landscape. You can take a trip by car to Cap Canaile (highest sea cliff in France) and the port of La Ciotat. In february you don't have to worry about congestion

The calanques are right next to Cassis, allowing maximum flexibility. No matter if you want to do a two hour hike, a longer trip, go to a beach, or just sit somewhere to relax and enjoy the view and nature, you can do it here. Yacht ports and occasional ruins add further to the appeal of this place. Highly recommended!

We took a kayak to the calanques and spent the afternoon on the beach. What a beautiful place it is. My only advice is to go as early as possible as it does get quite busy the later it gets in the day.

Marvellous! Just could spend one day but it was really worth doing it, mesmerizing landscape. it was one of the most beautiful places I visited. Water is incredibly blue.

Loved this trip. We opted to visit three of the calanques before enjoying lunch in Cassis. Lots of boats were available in the harbour. We were fortunate to have seats in the bow of the boat sitting outside. It was great to enjoy the sea air as we sail out and then around the beautiful inlets before returning to harbour. This is a beautiful place and well worth the visit.

Great ride to all the calanques, we took pictures and it was great to have taken this tour for an affordable price.

Having read a number of reviews, I still remained a little uncertain of what "the calanques" actually were. Were they the rocky headlands or outcrops or were they the bays and inlets just to the west of Cassis? We chose to take a boat trip to find out and my conclusion is that they are a series of beautiful bays and inlets along the rugged coastline. Being low season, the usual yellow hut from which tickets are sold was closed so it was a case of buying a ticket direct from the next boat to leave. There are options as to length of trip and how many calanques you see but due to weather conditions we were limited to the 5 calanque trip which took about an hour and a half for 19 euro each and was perfectly adequate to give a good overview. Prices seemed to be common between all the boats. Commentary by the skipper was in French and English, however, I would not rely on English always being spoken. This is a "must-do" in Cassis as it is a spectacular coastline although walking trails are also available if you have more time.

An intermediate hike with steep, rocky descent to the beach, but doable. We took hiking poles and they will help on the walk down. Bring your camera!

We took the next boat out, which happened to be the 4 calanques, not the super short trip nor the longest trip. Perfect for us. The sky was clear and the water was beautiful. Loved going into the calanques to see the individual features of each one. We had decent English narration. If you don't have the stamina or time for a long hike, the boat trip is a winner.

Stunning natural beauty. Try to go out of season as very popular. The walk to the further away Calanques is by far the best. The boat trips are great too. Beware, what ever they they say about departure time, the boats are only leaving the port when full!

Looks even better in person. The downside is that the water was too cold to swim in. Its do-able, you just have to not be a wuss like we were. Park at the street by the University and walk from there. Then find your own way. There are so many routes once inside. Some are easy and paved. Some are pretty dangerous if your not ready (these are the best parts).

worth a visit once , nice view and thrilling mountaineers in the way, take a boat from aux view port ., the cost for single person was 29 euro for a 2 hour trip . It is worth spending the money.

If you are in Cassis, you must take the boat tour around the Calanques. They are spectacular. We took the boat on a gorgeous, sunny day and saw many rock climbers on the Calanques. Extremely scary to watch them! The views and water are fabulous. Don't miss!

A must see! Don't bother with a tour or boat sightseeing - go on your own. Hike around, bring a picnic and a swimsuit and prepare for a relaxing day in the cool Mediterranean waters and warm sunshine! Get there early so you can spend the whole day there. We found a nice cliff close to the water to eat and relax and jump in from. Topless bathers are common here so don't be alarmed - it's France after all!
