poltsamaa castle

There isn't a huge amount to see in Poltsamaa but there are the castle walls alongside the river, a park, and a couple of decent restaurants / cafes making this for us a pleasant lunch stop on the way to Tallinn from Tartu. We ate at the new Kohvik O cafe very near the castle, which offered good reasonably-priced food in a modern Scandinavian style setting.

История замка идет с 1272 года, почти 800 лет. Естественно, мало что осталось - только крепостные стены замка и "скелет" башни со стенами комнат. За стенами замка остался небольшой ров с водой. Рядом река в камышах, где-то рядом есть прокат для катамаранов (видели катающихся людей на реке).Вход бесплатный, что очень порадовало. Городок очень тихий, туристов никого.Рядом с замком есть магазин, где продается местное вино из черники, очень вкусное!

Der Schlosshof und die Kirche bilden eine nette Einheit. Vom Schloss sind nur Ruinen übrig, aber in den Nebengebäuden sind einige nette Sachen untergebracht: eine Galerie mit monatlich wechselnden Ausstellungen (pART), ein sehr schöner Handwerksladen (käsiteokoda), der Weinkeller mit Sonnenterrasse und Gelegenhheit zur Weinprobe. Im Schlosshof finden auch Konzerte statt.
