The photography exhibitions were great and highly recommend going up to the cafe for a coffee and cake or just to look out over the water!
Even if your not into photography the view from the cafe on the top floor is amazing! You can see most of Stockholm and even on a grey day it is fantastic to sit and just admire the view. Oh and the photography was fantastic also!
i travel the world a lot but I have yet to find a better one after having searched cities like London, NY and Tokyo. However the quality goes up and down depending on the exhibited photographers. the current exhibition is quite weak but they will change in a couple of months...
Positioned on the water front a 10 minute walk from Old Town this gallery had three good exhibitions on when we went (Herb Ritts was the highlight). About £9 entry, less with Student IDThe resaurant/bar upstairs looked amazing, i did not eat there because it was quite busy. Its like a bistro/deli when you oder and collect food before finding a sea, but it all looked very nice and the views are great, right on the water front. Would definitly visit again if back in Stockholm.
My wife and I visited this in March.Being honest I was not so impressed in honesty. The photos were good (of course), but I hoped for a larger number of exhibits from the museum. It was far smaller than I expected and probably not enough to occupy you for more than an hour or so. We went to the on site restaurant and found it to simply be not to our liking ...other than the views which were fantastic. Not the easiest place to access. We walked along the main road and then found we had to climb down several flights of steps. Better signs to the exhibition would certainly help. If you are a great fan of art / photography then maybe you will get more from this than me. I expected more about the technical side and history of photography ...and it certainly was not that. I suspect a family with kids would struggle to keep the kids interested. Sorry, but I struggle to recommend this in honesty.
This is absolutely my favorite museum in Stockholm. I visit it every time while in Stockholm. They have very good exhibitions and the shop has wide selection of books of photography. The restaurant terrace front of the establishment is nice during the summer time. If you love photo exhibitions, this place is the place to go.
Really well maintained and thought out museum. Its tricky to find the way to walk to it from slussen, but that is not a big problem.
Check what they are showing first and google the pictures. Most of the time something good is on. It is a long walk from drottningagatan, about 30-40 min.
Here you can find different exhibitions with contemporary photography. Stroll around in the small shop where you can find books, posters and more. And don't miss the restaurant! Wonderful views, fantastic food and very attentive service. You probably need to make a reservation to get a table.
I love this place, even if I don't visit museums too often, this would be my first choice when visiting Stockholm. Enjoy your lunch (with wine perhaps) on the top floor restaurant/café with great view overlooking the water! A 5-10 minutes walk from Slussen metro station.
Visiting this museum makes any photo you've ever taken seem like a wasted opportunity. There are some truly excellent exhibits in a very aspirational setting. Lovely tori sit if the weather is a bit unpleasant, near to Slussen metro station. Worth a trip.
A big old beautiful building. Lots of fotos by many wellknown artists. Good food in the restaurant. Nice place.
I visited first time in Fotografiska. I watched all amazing photos! Exhibition is very well organiced and staff is very kindly. I decided to visit Photografiska every time I visit Stockholm! It's a little bit expencive but You must to see it!
Got in as students without showing our cards which saved us a few precious kronor. Really high quality exhibition space with three or four shows on by big names in photography. The lighting is really good here, the rooms are dark overall with focused spotlights on the photographs against dark, rich coloured walls. Theres a very nice restaurant/cafe upstairs with some equally cool toilet arrangements.
We visited Fotografiska on a bit of a whim as we had a gap in our itinerary and it turned out to be an excellent decision. The entry fee was a little pricey but once we got in there were a number of very interesting and educational exhibitions that we got a lot out of. We also had some nice food in the cafe so all in all a very enjoyable visit.
