美景尽收眼底!无论是晴天的夏日还是冬日的阳光,都一定要考虑来这里看看,坐着小火车上去,感受不同一般的文化融合
I've been up to the top dozens of times, living below on its flank. Start from either Caux or Sonchaux, you'll have a beautiful half-day. The only negative is the grouping of microwave towers at the top, which impact on the experience. Choose an early morning departure on a full-moon night, and you'll be rewarded.Of course, you can also take the little train to the top, and/or back down. Once there, you'll find a restaurant-cafeteria, little ski lifts, and captive marmots in large cages. Walk at least to the Alpine garden, well-worth the short stroll.
I went there with a friend visited during xMas. I general I would say it's a nice trip with the funicular. The views is impressive especially when the weather is good. I was a bit disapointed coz the paronamic restaurant was closed, the price for the funicular from Caux was expensive and you're forced to buy train+ski. Not interesting when the weather is bad.
Take the train up to the top of Rochers-de-Naye passing small villages on the way up to be greeted by the most stunning views. During Winter relax with a glass of Swiss wine with your fondue lunch.
Quite an easy ride from Montreux, the views are outstanding, the travel of the train is breathtaking! up there the restaurant is ok the Swiss chef will give a laugh. petty is that the forfeit on the beginners was closed... ah if you or your children are a beginner ecole ski of Montreux has a great service
Rating this site/activity is quite tricky as the view on a nice and sunny day is probably to die for, and worth of a 5/5 rating. Add relatively dense cloud coverage - which kind a came from nowhere and lasted quite a while - it will put a damper on thingsWhat I liked: Nice ride up - and the cloud coverage is less likely to be an issue at the lower altitudes. Some great picture spots. Clearly marked and safe trails. Decent (but expensive) food optionsWhat to watch for/could be improved: Even though we knew of the cloud risks on that day, we took a chance as we felt that "Marmot Paradise" could still be worthy of the trip up. There are 8-10 large outdoor cages where you may get to see some "unique" marmots - but definitely not a highlight. Facilities (bathroom) left a lot to be desired. If in need, use the ones in the main building, not the adjacent train/funicular stationHighly recommended nevertheless, and good value if you have one of the train passes which gives a discount or provide access. Note that Rochers-de-Naye in itself is free - it is the train ride to it that will cost you something
We took our 8 year old son to Visit Father Christmas at Rochers-De-Naye the weekend before Christmas and he thoroughly enjoyed it, after getting the train from Geneva to Montreux we picked up our tickets from the ticket office in the station to board the the traditional cog train up the side of the mountain which was excellent offering superb views over Montreux and lake Geneva, as the train ascended through the clouds the landscape changed from green to white which was a delight as there was no snow at ground level. We booked our tickets via the on line web site and then ended up having to call Switzerland to make payment which was a bit of a hassle and getting on the train even thought the seats are allegedly reserved was a bit of a scrum. The Christmas experience at the top was however nice for the kids culminating in brief chat with Santa for the kids. Well worth a visit if you have younger kids.
The train journey up is lovely, beautiful views of the lake, get to see how the locals live and pretty cool to see how such an old train works. The view at the top...not so good. The weather wasn't so good to begin with, bit cloudy. You need to hike right up to see the best view of Montreux and lake leman. There was too much snow and no appropriate track to so this, so it was a little disappointing for me. I would say it's beautiful in summer time though.
We went to Rochers-de-Naye on a semi-cloudy day. We got to see partial views, and from what I did see, it was magnificent. There are plenty of lookout points. The marmot habitat is really neat and they are adorable creatures. There are two restaurants, plenty of places to walk/hike. And the train going up there gives great views of the surrounding area as well. Definitely worth the time and money.
Visited Santa in his Grotto for the second time. This trip is recommnended for Parents with young children or (like us) Grand Parents. From the trip up in the cog train, to the long walk through the underground tunnel past the Reindeer, Snowmen and Polar Bears to the entrance to Father Christmas's house, all wonderful. Father Christmas is there with his elves and believe me IT IS the REAL Father Christmas. He speaks 6 languages and makes every visit by the children special. Face painting, a visit to the elves house and then back along the tunnel to the main restaurant where a hot meal or just a hot chocolate awaits. A look around outside (in the snow) and then back on the train. If you are lucky and its a clear day you can see for miles and miles and miles. Down on the train and perhaps a quick stop at Caux to have a look round the Christmas Village and perhaps a few snowball fights then back on the train to Montreux. This is a magical once (or in our case twice) in a lifetime trip which you will remember forever. The first time we went we took our 6 year old Grand Daughter. The second time we took our son and daughter-in-law both over 30. No matter how old you are it makes you realise that there truly is a Father Christmas.Don't forget the Christmas Market in Montreux (try and go to Rocher when this is on and have TWO great times for the price of one).
Lovely train ride if cramped through some beautiful scenery. Unfortunately during our time here there has been a lot of low clouds so we could not see it at it's best. Well worth it though
We hiked to this location and were very hungry when we got to the top. The food was extremely expensive and really bad. The food service was slow. I would recommend taking the train back down to Montreux for food.
We have done the Shilthorn, Jungfraujoch and now the Rochers-de-Naye. Must say the Jungfraujoch was the most spectacular but the Rochers-de-Naye was great fun too. A beautiful train ride from Montreux and spectacular views of the city and Lake Geneva. We didn't do any serious hiking but it would have been great fun! You can stay there as long as you like. The trains run all day. Great views in all directions. We even saw a little bit of Mont Blanc. They had large fenced in areas where some Marmots lived. They weren't hibernating yet so we got to see them. A very enjoyable half day adventure.
Took my 5 year old here and it was breath taking! Wonderful views had a fab day! Very highly recommended :)
Breath taking views as the train winds it's way around the mountain to the top almost 3000ft above sea level. Travel up through the clouds to the snow capped mountains!
