A Brancusi monumental artwork, a must see in Targu JiuIt is worth travelling to Romania, a beautiful and fascinating country, just to see this Brancusi sculpture. With the sun behind the Endless Column it does indeed appear to disappear into the sky.
It is worth travelling to Romania, a beautiful and fascinating country, just to see this Brancusi sculpture for art lovers. I have seen it in so many art books but in reality it becomes an experience, something quite extraordinary as you approach it and walk around it. With the sun behind the Endless Column it does indeed appear to disappear into the sky.
Located in the "Column Park" on the main road when entering Tg Jiu from the east side, the Endless Column ("Coloana Infinitului") is a must see in Tg Jiu, together with "Poarta Sarutului" and "Masa Tacerii". Altogether, they represent the most important legacy Brancusi left (and accepted by) to Romania, his country. It is really difficult to rank these masterpieces...
Impressive column is impressive and you can't deny that this Brancusi man actually had talent! And what a skill. This sculpture fits perfectly in the park where it's currently situated and makes Targu Jiu a place of interest. Really beautiful.
The Endless Column (often it is called the Column of Infinite) symbolizes the "Infinite Sacrifice" of the Romanian soldiers and it is considered by Sydnei Geist the top point of the modern Art. The Endless Column stacks 17 rhomboidal modules, with a half-unit at the top. The incomplete top unit is thought to be the element that expresses the concept of the infinite. Brancuși had experimented with this form as early as 1918, with an oak version. The Column of the infinite sacrifice given by the Romanian heroes for the Unity of the Nation. The number of component modules represents the year on which Romania came into the First World War and the ending half module represents the half part of the respective year.
I love the master-pieces of art made by Constantin Brancusi. The Endless Column is more than a monument, is a symbol of love and respect to our heroes who lost their lives in battles for our freedom. Brancusi knew how to materialize our feelings in such a magnificent way!
Endless Column is one of the three artworks of Constantin Brancusi that you can find in Targu Jiu. It is situated in the middle of the park next to the entrance in Targu Jiu. The other two - Table of Silence and Gate of Kiss - are situated in the central park of Targu Jiu. There is no fee to visit them, so make sure to see them if you get to Targu Jiu.
Parchi curati, tanto verde, tanta pace e serenità
