Another ticked off the bucket list on the links at Royal Portrush. Paid extra for a caddy, as there's not much sense in attempting something of this calibre without a bit of advice. Well worth your while!
Superb Irish Breakfast and very friendly staff. Pro Shop excellent with great staff. The golf course is outstanding as is the Valley Links next to the Dunluce. Great place to go and stay for two nights and two round of quality links golf.
This is a pure track. Loved it here. Not fancy or over the top, but just dang good golf. You've got hit some good shots to score well here. It isn't the easiest, but we had a great time. Excellent caddie here, he shared lots of stories about Darren Clarke and Rory McLroy.
Golf Course speaks for itself ,but food first class at dinner we had choices galore cant wait to go back
One of the great links courses. Played in relatively benign conditions but still a good challenge. Last 2 holes might be a bit weaker than the rest but still good fun.
When I booked our tee times last year, I didn't really know what to expect of a links course being from So Cal. Between Royal Portrush and Royal County Down, I could spend the summer in the North and be happy playing every other day between these amazing golf courses. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel welcome by all. Our caddies were exceptional and walking this course on a beautiful, sunny day was pure magic. The starter and caddie master in blue blazers and ties were on the first tee with us as the gentlemen hit away. They then moved down to the forward tees with us ladies. We met the club president taking a walk with his little rescuer dog on number 4 and 5, a gracious gentleman and again, so welcoming. This is a course NOT to be missed while in Northern Ireland.
Perfect sunny day as we played Royal Portrush. Staff in pros hop were great, excellent course with lots of creative holes, hidden bunkers, small bunkers, large bunkers.......if you get the picture!! Fairways and greens in excellent shape, if you end up in the rough you end up in trouble. Darren Clarke was on the practise green, tempted to give him the opportunity to golf with my wife and I.
Excellent club. Lovely atmosphere. Food good. Staff and ambience as you would expect from Royal Portrush.
On e of the nicest locations for a great golf course. Service and course top notch. Great course better hit em straight. Can't find your ball in the rough.
We were on an eight course golf trip through Ireland. Played here twice over three days. Course and experience were excellent. Great caddies, superior pace of play and very welcome environment.
A bucket list golf course, ranked #7 Worldwide by Golf Digest (UK), beautiful rolling dunes and well maintained.
Set along the coast in Portrush, this is the quintessential links course. You can walk to it from town, probably because a hundred years ago it was "just" a town course. The terrain here is spectacular and challenging. It's no wonder Northern Ireland has produced three major champions in the last few years. If you're up this way you must stop by. Also stop to see the Rathburn club, the home of G-Mac. This is clearly a golfer's paradise. We can hardly wait for five years to see the Open Championship played here. We have no clue where they'll house all the spectators for that event, but we'd sure like to be among them!
Having played almost every great "links" style course in Ireland, Portrush ranks upon the best of the best. One of the few courses that has an available driving range as well. If you pay for the championship Dunluce course then you can also play the valley course for an extremely low greens fee & the valley course has some wonderful holes! The Dunluce course is tough & I highly recommend enlisting a caddy to guide you around.
Played this course on a recent trip to Ireland with a group of 16-everything it's cracked up to be. Upcoming British open here is well deserved. Enjoyed every second playing here. Ran like a high end golf club from top to bottom. Caddies were wonderful. A word of warning though-if you want a true caddie experience, ask for the older guys. A lot of 14-16 year old "rookie" caddies learning the ropes. Takes away from the whole experience, with very limited green reading skills yet learned from several loops on the course. Must play for a trip to Ireland .
This is a wonderful links course. A long history of play going back to the late 1800's. Beautifully maintained with some holes that are truly spectacular and some that are just plain difficult.
