Me and my fiancee visited this park last summer and I'm sure we will do the same this year. It's a lovely clean and open park. Glasgow has a lot of open spaces but I'd rate this as my favourite due to the general atmosphere and cleanliness. There's even a handy garden centre attached Dear green place
This a delightfull spot to drop into for a very good reasonable meal or just a coffee. The café overlooks a lovely pond with swans, ducks etc.The staff are most welcoming. There is a nice exhibition area with paintings done by local artists at attractive prices
i have lived across the road from Rouken Glen Park nearly all my life. Since I was 5yrs old I have been to Rouken Glen whether with family or when walking our family Dogs. I love the park as it is so tranquil and it is lovely to saunter through at your leisure. My Dad always wondered why I took so long in getting home after walking our Dogs but it was lovely just to wander through and our Dogs enjoyed it also especially down by the rivers in the wooded area. You met so many nice people although you had the occasional grumpy one. I have my own Dog Walking business now and still come into Rouken Glen Park on occasions. I feel that 3 generations of my family have grown up beside Rouken Glen Park and it has been an amazing part of our lives.
Have been shopping here for years & love the place especially at Christmas but each time I go to the café for lunch I leave disappointed. Just not the same quality of panini's as other cafes. A bit dry, not best quality fillings. I had ordered a festive Panini with chicken, stiffing & cranberry. Not much flavour at all. All I could taste was cranberry but not a hint of stuffing flavour. This is not a great place for lunch. Plenty cakes on offer so if just going for a coffee & cake would probably be fine. Not going back again to café, too may disappointing visits. Store is great though & will continue to shop.
A great park offering a recently upgraded play area and sports activities. Great areas for walking and grassy areas for playing football. Picnic areas provided and a lovely café next to the pond area for ice cream on a warm day. Visited the garden centre which had a good restaurant for a hot meal and lovely shop for gifts. Plenty of parking areas which are free. Ideal place for a family day out or for dog lovers.
Rouken Glen us the jewel in the crown now that the refurbishment is complete. The play park is extremely well designed and the areas are all sectioned into age groups. There is something there for every child at all fitness levels and is great fun - a huge investment and well worth it. Lots of interesting walks and fitness machines sporadically placed around the park for keeping fit. There as a very nice garden centre adjacent with a great tearoom. Worth a trip for the whole family.
Every year when I return to visit family in and around Glasgow we always go for a walk around the pond and have tea at the Garden Centre. The Garden Centre has lots of plants, flowers and many interesting gifts to buy. Usually get my shortbread there as the price is good. This year I noticed that the pond was all slimey. No boats to be seen. Used to love the boats and the miniture radio controlled boats. Did see a Heron on the little island. The tearoom there is also very good. There used to be a Butterfly area but it was gone. Always take a family picture by the lovely waterfall. The play area for children was much larger. Love to walk down the many tree lined paths.
What a gorgeous park this is. Plenty to do for all ages and a wonderful playground for young children. Easy parking and plenty of picnic tables if you need them. Very impressed with the whole place. There is also a Garden Centre here.
A free and firm favourite of ours, even more so now that the play park is even better, the kids love it up there, so much to do, different walks, good any time of year even in the rain :-) remember folks we are waterproof...
East Renfrewshire should be given a massive round of applause for there totally transformed outdoor play area and pavilion looking on .So well worth the long wait and also grown up metal excercise machines.we ventured up the hill and unfortunately the money must have ran out for the beautiful pond that was featured in still game.Green thick slimy water covered in a horrible looking film on top.And the cafe now transformed into a restaurant looking on to that !!Noticed only 2 swans and 1 duck in the past full of interesting birds. Please finish the job !
I am just back from a day at Rouken Glen park. The new play park is fantastic, my 2 boys aged 6 and 7 absolutely loved it. We have been to a lot of play parks in the west of scotland and my 2 boys agreed that this one is with out a doubt the best by far. Great park, clean toilets, and clean grass (no dog poo) great day and will definitely be back.
I visited the park recently with my sister, nephew and his friend (8&9) and they loved it.The park has recently had a grant from the lottery and they have made it even better than it was before.
I'd never been to Rouken Glen Park before and found it really lovely. Unfortunately the playground was closed for refurbishment which was a pain as that was one of the reasons we chose to visit, but I understand that this should be open by the end of June 2014. The park was huge and I'm sure we only scratched the surface of the walks available, but we found the waterfall which was very exciting for our toddler. We ate in the Boathouse cafe which was good with quick service and had baby changing. The only disappointment was the walled garden which I expected to be bursting with colour and was barren instead, but maybe it's just in the process of being replanted. Overall, a really positive first visit and looking forward to going back soon!
On the May holiday Monday we visited Rouken GLen.The garden centre and cafe are wonderful, and fairly reasonably pricedThe parking is excellentThe park seemed to be undergoing some refurbishmentPerhaps we'll return some sunny day!
I was really looking forward to this event and purchased 5 tickets . What a big mistake!! It was absolutely rubbish. My own back garden is better lit. The pond wasn't lit and was cordoned off so you couldn't walk round it. I stood for 7 minutes at the waterfall waiting on it changing colour. I am just so amazed at the reviews from people saying it was fabulous , they must have been at a different event or maybe the night I was there , they had forgotten to pay the electricity bill. Never again.
