Thank you for your review and we're glad your walk lead you to visit us at Lunderston. The toilet block was installed in autumn last year and we hope they will improve usage and convenience of the site for everyone all year round. As you say however, toilet facilities are particularly handy in the busy summer months, especially when our Ranger Service meet school children there for rockpooling!

Great place for a picnic or taking the dog for a walk. Water is very clean and their is a big garden centre next to it.

We visit Lunderston a lot, it is only a few miles from home. The council have spent a lot of money on it recently, installing a brand new fancy toilet block and new footpaths. The beach is sandy with rocks leading up to the grassy area, which has picnic benches on it and loads of space to play for the kids.Very popular with dog walkers, and very clean. I have yet to see any dog mess and we walk our dog there lots. There is a kiddies play park there too along the woodland path a bit.

Nice place to walk on a clear evening. Nice clean facilities and easy walking a bike paths, as well as easy access to the beach

We found Lunderston Bay to be especially good for children. Bring your bucket and spade for the beach to start off with and then spend a bit of time in the play park before continuing on a 3 mile walk towards Inverkip Marina past fields of cattle and gorgeous views over towards Cowal. The walk is on the flat so very accessible.Once at Kip Marina we visited The Chartroom Restaurant which finished off our day nicely.http://www.kipmarina.co.uk/

Lunderston Bay has a magical quality, which can only be fully appreciate when there are few people about. This does not happen on Bank Holidays, but what the hell....you will love it anyway.Cross over the road and make sure you visit the Garden Centre, which has to be one of the finest in the West of Scotland. You will find much more than plants!!...enjoy!!

Hi CookieKips, thank you for your review and visit to Lunderston Bay last year. We thought you would like to know that there has now been a new toilet block installed at the site. We hope this will encourage you to visit again soon!

Stunning views whatever the weather. You can walk from here along the shoreline to Inverkip. Tends to be quite busy in the summer months.

Great for walking, views, splashing around (in warm weather)rock pools, bird watching and picnics. Can get a bit muddy. Dog owners are being more careful and there is the added bonus of the huge and interesting Cardwell Bay Garden Centre across the road.

was here yesterday, spotless beach area and well looked after by the park keeper, he was out picking up litter and checking on the new loo area while we were there,(sunday) there was also a van selling ice cream etc, had to have a 99 cone, delicious, even though the weather rained on and off there were still people having a picnic, the views are stunning, we visit atleast once a month.

Was here today, 29th June. Nice and quiet at 7pm. My dog and loved it. Like all the good walks and beauty spots in the area it's pretty badly treated by some. The portaloos were obviously recently put on fire. Real shame as the majority of users will be respectful and like anything else it's the random acts of some that spoil so much of the Clyde's beauty spots. Unusually though not a lot of litter, so clearly this park is being cared for than most.

We've been enjoying - for the most part - Lunderston Bay for many years.I have to agree first of all with Denise about the lack of basic facilities;IE toilets. It's really not good enough to have nothing but one filthy portaloo, and two locked portaloos. I was told new toilets would be built in time for summer 2013, but still waiting for them to appear, and no work is in progress that I can see. If you do need a bathroom you can go across the road to the garden centre. But to do this you have to cross an extremely busy road with cars doing 60MPH at least - not easy to do if you have young children. I don't understand why a crossing hasn't been placed there. The garden centre, however, closes at 5.30PM, so after that you have no toilet facilities. As for the comments made by 'roomless'...I haven't seen any dog dirt on the beach, thankfully. But I would certainly agree with your comments about selfish dog owners. Not once have we visited Lunderston Bay without some incident involving a dog! These owners don't abide by the laws stating they should be either leashed or no further than six feet from them. Today we had some mutt diving into my mother's coffee cup as we sat enjoying our picnic on the grass. The owners shouted on the dog, but made no real attempt to hurry towards us and remove the dog. My mother was pulling the dog back from her drink - I guess we're lucky it didn't bite her! All we got from the owner was a quiet "Sorry". Not good enough. Some dog owners really need to get their act together. Control your animal;don't assume anyone wants your dog jumping over them or being anywhere near them;be responsible and think of others!I can't comment on the "weed smoking low life youth". Last summer my 2 year old's beach ball got blown away and was heading for the water - much to his distress - and a very nice young teenager ran from quite far back on the beach and rescued his ball. We've had no problems with youths to be honest. But when visiting late at night on the way home from Largs, we have seen youths parking up;getting their supplies of alcohol and heading off to camp. Sadly, the picnic tables are no longer there due to vandalism - they were set on fire. What a pity a few bad apples spoil it for the rest of us.The staff do a great job, and I can only assume they don't have the manpower to supervise Lunderston Bay more closely and as often, to perhaps prevent the vandalism, etc. There must be a way to build vandal-proof toilet facilities? I hope so, as this and the irresponsible dog owners really are the only two things that spoil an otherwise great day out for all.

we try and go here whenever the weather is nice enough... west of scotland is not know for its sunny weather. Usually we go with family, kids and grandparents. Its always a good day out for everyone. we take a picnic and cook a barbecue. the kids love playing on the beach looking in the rock pool and there is also a small play area for the kids, however when the weather is very sunny the chute can get hot. there is also lovely walks from the beach and sometimes we take the kids balance bikes. Pleasant views. arrive early as the car park can get full quickly on nice days. However you could park across the road at the garden centre. would have given it 4 stars but the last time we were there all the porta loo's were locked, eventually we had to leave as we needed the toilet.

Great beach although gets busy in the summer. The coastal walk to Inverkip Beach - which is far quieter - is a must.
