Be prepared to fish out your ball from water if you are not accurate. You will have to play over water 11 times in 18 holes. A tricky first 9 is both beautiful and challenging while the second 9 becomes rather boring as it is more of a parkland feel. The clubhouse is dreadful, there is more atmosphere on the moon.
wife has been more than once just first class Christmas lunches dinners clean welcoming realy good food not a lot you can say but go and try it for yourself
The course is well constructed and has a lot of interesting holes with great views. Water comes into play on a lot of the holes. It has a good Pro Shop and the meals in the clubhouse are excelent
Not one for Tribute Nights(Diana Ross and Whitney Houston) but being a member of Glencorse decided to go with my wife and two friends. It was a really great night. The entertainment was actually really very good. There was a Buffet laid on which comprised cold starters, Parma Ham, Roast beef, salad etc. Then followed by a chicken dish, steaks or pasta, all with the trimmings, lastly various sweets. Great value at £15 per head for the whole evening. Glencorse also do "fish teas" on a Friday and great value lunches. Worth a visit. Course is also very good for you golfers out there!!
This club has parking, a pleasant clubhouse and an interesting course. When your golf is not good you can blame the views which are stunning. It has a challenging first hole and many unusual and difficult holes, not least because of the hills. The course is well maintained. After golf, the eighteenth delivers you neatly to the clubhouse where, after some catering problems, there is now very good food.
no food available at all ,o, apart from nuts, or crisps, and the thing is that the potential is there .
Not many courses in the area have so many great holes.. The front 9 at Glencorse are some of the best in the Edinburgh area.. The elevated 8th being one of my favourite Par 3s. Great Pro and Pro shop with many bargains on offer.
For an avid golf player this place is okay- mediocre at best. Most people will enjoy this place for relaxed and simple game of golf. However if you are a hardcore fan, you may be disheartened like me.
Had a local pub outing here and have to say thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and the staff were very accomodating friendly and although the consitions were a bit tough with wind and rain the experience was very enjoyable and well worth the money and i would encourage any golfer to go along and play there.Catering was first class and again very much worth the money and will be orgainsing an event there again this year and would recommend that if you have not tried this course to give it a go and enjoy what we did.will certainly be back
I played Glencorse in a visiting party of 24, we were treated like members from the offset, nothing was too much trouble! We were greeted with bacon rolls and coffee (we had an early start) and met with some members and The Captain which was nice. The round itself was (as others have said) a great challenge especially to those new to the sport. The burn and the trees were the most challenge ( a few balls were lost). The Scottish weather has not been favorable to golf courses this year and some of the greens here show signs of this but it was certainly playable and enjoyable. We have booked again in the Autumn. The pro was approachable but defensive, however we were able to hire trolleys and buggies and those who needed to bought balls and gloves but the prices were certainly not competative compared to the deal we got on our day.
Tough wee course that challenges the best player. Catering is basic (soup, bacon rolls etc.) but you'll get a friendly welcome
This course has become neglected, club house is in a state of poor repair, very disappointed with the condition of the course, nice walk but tees uneven, greens crusty and very bobbly, bunkers are poor and full of stones, great professional an asset any top course would like to have. Will be another 10 years until i would think about playing here again, major disapointment. "Hidden Gem" should be hidden alright!
Great little golf course - no wonder it is described as a hidden gem - we went on a clear day and the view from the top of the hill was lovely. Such a clean fresh course and although we were an extremely mixed ability group, everyone enjoyed - even managed a hole in one! Has a few challenges and my Iron knowledge was put to the test - a greas course - a must for anyone doing a Scottish Golf Tour
