This Library was a surprise and far more interesting than you'd expect from what might seem a dull subject. Staff were great and extremely knowledgeable. Well worth a visit

This library while full of rare and interesting books allowed hands on for all including the kids. What I thought was going to be a short visit turned out to be every worth while and very interesting for the kids as well as the adults.

Take the trouble to visit this wonderful old library. Brave the long narrow entrance road to the car park and the reward is huge. A very old building and Chapel, welcoming and knowledgable staff and access to fascinating old books and historic documents.

We found the Library thanks to Lonely Planet guide. It's not so easy to find the way except for some pointing hands. When eventually we came there it was in a foggy afternoon and it appeared so magic and romantic! What a lovely place! The librarians were very fair showing us ancient books where we found geographic maps with our country. It was a pleasure to know that english people are fond of latin and that to understand their old history they are used to translate it. An unforgettable visit in the countryside to understand Robert Burns the scottish best loved poet. Thanks so much.

We noticed this historic site on the Ordnance Survey map (there is also a chapel next door which is open to the public) while staying in Crieff, and a leaflet at our cottage told us we could indeed visit (free / donations). What a good decision it was - we arrived as the wonderful custodian Lara was opening up and she gave us a useful introductory talk, especially on the role of libraries and literacy in the Scottish enlightenment. Later we spent a good hour just reading (me with a first edition 'Duchess of Malfi', no less)! Altogether a place well worth supporting.

We were amazed at the number of historically important books here.It is a very out of the way place although only 4 miles from Creiff. When you go in you are escorted by the librarian or a knowledgeable volunteer and you are shown books of great rarity and some you are also allowed to hold and read from which was very exciting. there were displays of books on golfing {it is near Gleneagles} and medicine and the !st World War.the Visitors' book is also very interesting as it goes back a long way and many famous people have visited it.

My husband and 12yr old are big book lovers and were recommended this place by the in-laws who live locally. They loved looking at the Shakespeare based books and thoroughly enjoyed their visit. While on the otherhand this wasn't my 'thing', I was incredibly impressed by Lara's knowledge and passion on her books and this made it compelling listening. My daughter loved touching the books and didn't feel she was damaging them in anyway but also gave her a better understanding on how old everything was. Thank you to Lara and to Oscar the pugs mummy for an enjoyable visit.

Whole family was interested (from 6 year old to 15 year old) in the library. Curator and volunteers were really enthusiastic about the place and brought it to life. We spent a couple of hours there and the time time just flew by.

we learnt a huge amount of Scottish history explained in great detail by the excellent staff who spared nothing to give us a visit we will never forget. Their knowledge of so many fascinating books is worth so much. The buildings are fabulous as is the setting and you really can feel the history and sense those who visited this unique library so many years ago.Highly recommended

This little gem is well worth the trip out of Crieff to its rather remote location. Very interesting collection, building and library setup. Staff and volunteers very enthusiastic, knowledgable and welcoming.Visited with parents but no option for family of adults! :-)

We discovered the Library out walking one day. To be honest we just welcomed the diversion and didn't expect much to excite 4 children. We ended up staying for ages while the fascinated children were invited to inspect the books. I nearly fainted while they flicked through these lovely old tomes but Lara our guide was so interesting the children were entranced. Since then I've taken lots of visitors and every time they are as delighted as we were. There are lots of interesting events organised by the Library too - worth checking if there's one on when you're in the area.

If you like books you simply must visit Innerpeffray. I am sure you will be as enthralled as we were. The guides are very knowledgeable and they will endeavour to search out books on any subject you select. The wonderful thing is that you will be allowed to touch and read books which may be hundreds of years old. It's such a privilege. Please don't miss this magical place and look at the website beforehand for opening times and more information to help you get the most from your visit.
