Nicely kept, very clean. They don't make em like this any more! Has won many awards. Minimal entrance fee.
30p to get in and a little underwhelming in their upkeep, but nevertheless they are iconic and deserve a visit and a donation to encourage their continuance.
The gentlemen's loo's on the harbour by the ferry terminal are a highlight of any trip to the Isle of Bute. They may look like any old public loo from the outside, but inside they are a work of art. I've not been in many, if any, men's loos before, but I can guarantee that you have never seen anything as ornate as these, made from beautiful marble with copper piping with the original wall mounted cisterns. They are light and airy and well maintained, although still have a very modern pong to them! The basins are sadly no longer in use, but still standing proudly.Ladies, please be aware that the loos and urinals are still fully functioning, so don't assume that all male visitors have only come to look too!The ladies loos opposite are nothing special as apparently Victorian ladies were never caught short.
Accompanied a friend celebrating "her" 60th birthday, what a treat for us all, what a venue for a "party" Amazing, must visit, great drive to Isle of Bute too.
Worth a visit especially if you need a toilet! The parking to use the facility is quite good and as a visitor attraction it's very novel! The island of Rothesay is interesting and the shopping centre is reasonably good for a small town. There's a very nice little cafe in the back streets and the prices were very reasonable.
Excellent way to spend 30p to relieve yourself. Right on the harbour side handy for the town to. Remember toilets like this years ago when i was a kid
If you're going to use a public toilet, make it this one! Brilliantly restored to make this a real step back 100 years in time. There's a charge for adults but children go free.
Went in for a Look as I saw An article About it in the Scots Magazine Sometime Back and Wanted to see More so I Went on a Bus Tour And was Not Dissapointed I asked the Attendant about the Modern Sinks in the Ladies And She Said in 1899 there was no Ladies Toilet At the moment
Liked - Interesting victorian toilets restored as new with historical pictures in situ.Disliked - French family tourists taking photos in loo when trying to do my business
These are magnificent. They are unique to any Scottish island. The gent's are the jewels in the crown.
That was different to pay to go into a toilet but not use them! Even went into the Gents. Well worth a visit
Excellent and well preserved toilets. A fee of 30p to enter, but worth every penny. Beautiful marble and copper fittings. The gents toilets are far superior to the ladies (or so my wife said on viewing photo's).
The mens loos are spectacular, if you can say that about a toilet, all original marble sinks, urinals and beautiful copper pipes, most unusually historical site!!!
Whilst on the isle of Bute you must visit the Victorian toilets. Let's face it , your ferry will most likely have pulled in next door to them anyway and you'll probably be spending some time in the town of Rothesay anyway... Plus we all have those calls of nature to answer. It cost 30 pence to enter when we visited and kids go free. The main Victoria part is in the gents as the ladies is more modern so if you're female then you are going to have to make a sneaky peak visit to the gents side to see anything. The toilets are in full use and have showers etc to use to if you've been camping. You can even buy a your shower gels and toiletries as necessary for pretty reasonable/shop prices.Would recommend you visit if you're on the isle of Bute.
The men's in particular is all in marble and brass, the sinks must be priceless; today would cosy a considerable amount in a private house.
