Paid a return visit to the Civic this month for another out of this world trip with the crew of the spaceship Albatross. Yes - we returned to the Forbidden Planet! As always the atmosphere at the Civic was great - up in the Dress Circle we had an excellent view of the stage and the production of Planet was spot on. The cast are all so talented - all being able to play so many instruments and we loved the songs. A trip to the Civic is always a treat.

i rasng the box ofice to book two tickets for calamity jane for the wed matinee the seats i wanted were available but i was refused them because i was told that there was 3 seats left in the row i could not have them because it would leave an odd seat however i noticed that in the row in front there was an odd seat left and on the end of the row i asked for an odd seat had been sold before the two sEAts i required asnd was told i could not have so they turned down 45.00 i still say that if you are paying for seats then you should be able to have the seats you want if they are available so WHY CAN YOU NOT HAVE THESE SEATS IS MY MONEY NOT BEWARE OF THIS STUPID RULE IT SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO HAPPEN

Never been to this theatre but so glad we went to the final matinee this afternoon.Fantastic set, great cast and brilliant performance. Lovely theatre, had a pre performance drink in the bar and ordered a drink for the interval which was where we were told in would be. Definately will go back - a real gem.

This is a great theatre and we frequently travel from West Yorkshire for the best plays and musicals that do not appear in our local area.We returned today for "Peter Pan goes wrong" after seeing "The play that goes wrong" last year. From the minute that the highly inept tech crew come out into the audience (before the play officially began) roping off seats in our row, placing slippery floor cones on the seats and looking worriedly up at the ceiling, we were in hysterics. It got even better when the "unlucky latecomers" arrived to take their seats, finding them cordoned off and wondering what was going on, before the crew provided them with hard hats!!I laughed so hard from start to finish that it is a miracle I do not have a hernia! Just my cup of tea: pantomime (except its not, states the actor playing Hook, in a very aggrieved tone!) meets "Some mothers do 'ave 'em" meets every bit of slapstick you can ever imagine. The staging was superb and the set a work of genius. All actors worked their socks (or tights) off.All this in a beautiful, historic building.A fabulous way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

We are blessed to still have this gem among us. Run by the local Council and a friendly staff this theatre feels like a family affair. We get a good selection of shows and entertainment with our fair share of big names.

This is one of the smaller venues I have visited to see a production and I was impressed. The theatre has a warm and friendly atmosphere and the seats were big enough so you were not sat on the person next to you. Staff could not do enough to help, prices were reasonable too. All in all an enjoyable night out

Visited on Tuesday evening for 'That'll be the day'. A good show, well produced and a pleasant evening. The theatre is very nice, stage is visible from all seats. The acoustics are good, the seating comfortable, and prices are realistic compared to many theatres. The location is good with adequate parking nearby, and the theatre staff are friendly and extremely helpful.

It's been years since I was last at a Panto and I certainly wasn't disappointed at all. I had such an amazing time and enjoyed every minute of it. The staff are Darlington Civic Theatre are lovely and the building is maintained as well as they can for the limited budget that I expect they have. The Chuckle Brothers made it and apparently one of the main cast members, was someone local so that was great. Ready to book again for this year.

Took my grandchildren along to see "The chuckle of Oz" what an excellent show, great laughs, the 3d was well done and okay for over 5s who would probably have seen worse at the pictures. The chuckle brothers were great, I took my children to see them here about 25 years ago and remembered them as being very good. If you have spare time and small children highly recommend paying a visit

Took my 3 year old grandson to see his first panto here. Overall it was excellent until it came to the 3D part. He was hysterical with fear. 3D is in the first half of the show and also after the intermission. I think it should be mentioned on the website that there are some parts which may not be suitable for younger childre. Yes - we all know there will be a baddy that we boo at but when monsters, snakes and huge spiders are coming out of the screen out you it is rather upsetting to say the least. Many parents I spoke to said there younsters were very upset. It certainly is not for the younger family.

Have visited the Civic on many occasions and absolutely adore it. Firstly, it is a stunningly beautiful Edwardian theatre with a gorgeous auditorium, a couple of great bars and recently refurbished toilets. Each season is programmed with a great variety shows - everything from musicals to thrillers, pantomime to tribute bands, concerts to comedy. The most recent production I watched at the Civic was Willy Russell's Blood Brothers starring Maureen Nolan and it was fantastic! The really lovely thing about this theatre, though, is that the friendly and helpful staff seem to love the place as much as the patrons do. A real gem.

We visited the Civic (not for the first time) recently to see this excellent production as a birthday trip out with some friends. I could not rate the show highly enough. The theatre is nice too (well maintained) and they work really hard to put on an excellent calendar of events (James and the Giant Peach and Tom's Midnight Garden were two others that we have seen in the last couple of years - both fabulous). I am sometimes shocked at the low numbers at some of the events although Horrible Histories was very well supported. As with many of these old theatres the toilet facilities aren't great and the seats aren't designed for tall people (my husband is 6 4 and I am 5 9 - I wasn't overly comfortable so he did well to sit there) but that's what you expect.

Went to see Joseph and his fancy dan dream coat.Another great night out.The town council needs a great pat on the back for keeping this venue alive - this theatre is a little gem.If you are in town or nearby and at a loose end have a night out here, couple of nice restaurants outside great day out
