I was very amazed at what i saw when i walked in the WestCliff team are very nice and are welcoming you into there venue and also inside the theatre very nice crew i would recomend it to anyone :D
Visited the West Cliff to see The Basil Brush Show. Staff are so friendly and helpful. Easy to collect tickets from the box office. Ice cream sold in the interval just like it used to be at the cinema 'back in the day'. Can't praise staff enough , they could give a masterclass in customer service. love this theatre , small and friendly.
This was a thoroughly enjoyable show with the kids loving it! The adults were taking part too, no doubt with fond memories of this hilarious foxy pal. A great afternoon was had by all at this welcoming theatre topped off with a photo with Basil at the end. Well done everyone. "Boom, Boom!"

To the two reviewers who gave such terrible reviews for the West Cliff Youth Theatre production of Grease, I would like to point out a few things. Do you have any idea of the amount of time and effort that went into the production? As show week approached, the rehearsals were nearly every day and on at least one occasion they were rehearsing from 11am to 10:30 at night. I may be biased as my daughter was in production, but I do feel that within the limits of a local amateur youth group they put on an excellent and entertaining show. To say that none of them could sing and act is totally ridiculous! Many showed emerging talent that needs to be further developed and encouraged. They may be young and they may be amateurs but they are professional enough to accept fair critical reviews of their performances. Neither of your reviews could be considered constructive critical reviews. You suggest that the members of the audience who appeared to enjoy the show must have been relatives of the cast. Can I point out that as the theatre was nearly full for each performance and the cast is less than thirty this is highly unlikely, but the audiences were all loudly appreciative and many of the people I saw were leaving the theatre with a smile. It is blatantly absurd and egotistical for you to think you know whether other people’s enjoyment is real or not.
Went to see Grease on saturday night with the family. We all had a great time, it was funny and all the audience seemed to really enjoy it. Think the Negative reviewers need to remember that this was a performance by AMATEUR actors in a youth group. They did the best with what they had and it was great to watch and sing a long to.. we had a great time!
All I can say is Well Done Kids! What a lovely afternoons entertainment. Visiting a friend who lives near this lovely Theatre that we now visit a lot we had a fabulous time singing along with you all. This theatre does some lovely things but to give these kids the opportunity to put on such a brilliant show is just another asset to this little gem of a Theatre.Well Done all involved in this fun loving production!
We came as a large group, over 30 in total to watch the West Cliff Theatre youth group perform Grease on Saturday night. There were a variety of ages amongst us, and absolutely everyone enjoyed the show immensely. Not one complaint!! People around us were also singing, hand jiving and having a fab time too. Numerous times throughout the show, the applause was deafening, everyone seemed to be enjoying it. I'm stunned to read on here that people didn't enjoy it. Yes we all have different tastes, but lets face it for eight quid we were sitting in Clacton watching an amateur production not a show in the West End!! As for the comments about the cast, they were all brilliant. All engaging with the audience and hence the rapturous applause. Great show from the West Cliff and we would re book in a heart beat for their next performance.
This little theatre is an absolute delight, full of charm and character. I have seen several shows here in the last 9 months. All have been thoroughly enjoyable, staff friendly, sweet shop, bar, friendly staff what more can you want. Obviously very much part of the community given that local amdram, dancing, music and youth groups use the theatre for their performances. Given that this is a review of the venue rather than particular shows will say only that I was in the audience on Friday night for Grease. I had no relatives on stage but thoroughly enjoyed seeing the youngsters giving it their all. As for paying - happy to do so to support the group and the Theatre.
When people write bad reviews about what has clearly been sign posted as a youth theatre production really have missed the point completely, well done you tiny people
I've been to the Westcliff Theatre a few times lately and have enjoyed the performances. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for this production of Grease. One person in the whole cast had talent, the rest really didn't. If this had been a free school production fair enough, but to actually charge people money to see this is an outrage. Yes, some of the cast seemed to be enjoying themselves, but we certainly weren't. Some of the audience also seemed to be enjoying themselves, but these people were clearly related to, or friends of, the cast. Good for them for supporting their loved ones.
Disgusting performance No one could singActing was very very poorMe and my partner had to walk out
This is a lovely place with fantastic staff. Well worth keeping an eye out for what's on . Makes a lovely evening out an absolute gem of a place .
This is a cosy theatre in all senses, Whatever you are going for you will no doubt be able to see the stage and be seated in comfort
What a treat to see Curtis Stigers in Clacton on 4th February 2015. Brilliant show - he said he will be back - do hope he is!
