First and foremost I would like to admit that I have been visiting Burrowhayes at least once (but usually two or three times) a year since my birth (23 years) and my mother has been staying here since the 1970's. This might lead some to believe we have simply got used to the shortcomings with regard to the accommodation, cleanliness and value for money side of things but let me categorically say that the reason we continue to visit this campsite is because it doesn't have any shortcomings!Over the years I have stayed at the site in both a tent and one of the static caravans provided and have never been left disappointed or even 'slightly unhappy'. First of all on arrival you will report to the shop which is clean, friendly and well-stocked. Not only does the shop provide the sustenance any holidaymaker or desperate camper would need (teabags, milk, bread, eggs and meals etc) it also stocks the items you might need if you forget something (tent pegs etc) and even toys for those who have restless children. The static caravans available (pre-booking a necessity) come in a variety of berths but all are maintained to an impeccable standard of cleanliness with plenty of home comforts provided such as kettle, microwave, TV (with HD and freeview) and plenty of cutlery. You will need to bring your own pillow cases, duvet covers and extra sheets though. The bedrooms are spacious and have ample supply of storage. The shower is tight for space but performs admirably. The proprietors also provide certain things as complimentary such as toilet paper and washing -up liquid and deck-chairs for those lovely evenings. As a camper you have plenty of spaces available - many of the pitches are available with electrical hook-ups whether you have a tent or touring caravan. A lot of the pitches are also on a slight gradient but this is to be expected given the surrounding area. The facilities available to the camper are plentiful with a large shower/toilet block and self-service pot-wash and laundry room - all of which are well-kept.Most people who stay here do so because of the local area but there are are things to do on site such as horse and pony hire for the adventurous family or paddling in the adjacent stream (which is worth noting does not belong to the proprietors and is therefore not maintained etc by them). Overall if I am ever in the area I wouldn't dream of staying in an alternate location and I will continue to holiday there at least twice a year. If you book here you will never be disappointed and, like me, will never tire of visiting.

Great facilities, this family run camp site boasts its own riding stables. The treck through Horner woods to the edge of the moor was a great experience and catered for all abilities. The staff are so friendly and helpful and the scenery is amazing, from the ancient packhorse bridge at the entrance to the views across to Wales, this was a magical experience.

My wife and I and our grand daughter arrived at Burrowhayes Farm with our caravan for a weeks holiday. We were met upon arrival by the owner Julian who was so helpful to us despite our arriving earlier than normally allowed. We were allocated a full service site very convenient to the facilities at Burrowhayes. This site is very well managed and there is good control over noise levels after 10pm and the facilities are excellent from the clean showers and toilets to the disposal elements. The scenery around is very pleasant and a stream which our grand daughter loved is just at the back of the site. Newspapers, fresh croissants and bread rolls are available in the shop on site daily as are many other grocery and allied items.A first class stay for us all. The one thorn in the ointment was that the internet at the site was intermittent some days excellent other days poor, however Julian honestly admitted that the capacity of the offering was suspect when the camp was full as it was for several days when we were there. Not having been to Minehead before this opened our eyes to a town that really does cater for the visitor. Parking on street levels in the town is allowed up to one hour without charge and good car parking also available and unlike Poole or Bournemouth the charges do not necessitate taking out a mortgage. Also we were not aware of a creeping parking attendant out to book anyone overstaying by a minute or two. A very nice town in our view. Both the camp site and the town well worth further visits.

I went for an hour ride whilst on holiday at the campsite. It was fantastic. Lovely horses, you can tell they are looked after well. The staff were helpful and friendly and chose me a steady horse which suited my needs and confidence level. And what a beautiful area to ride through!

We always camp at Burrowhayes at Whitsun & our daughters ( 12 & 17) always love the riding. All abilities are catered for and its a great way see Exmoor.

There's so much i can say about burrowhayes. I've been going there for as long as i can remember and practically have learnt how to ride properly there. I'm 14 and I may not have been to many riding stables but this is by far the best one I've and my family have been to. I'm a bit of a regular so they remember me but they are all so friendly to everyone. The rides they take you out on are so beautiful so it's worth going for the scenery as well as the fantastic rides. The horses are all so well looked after and obedient.

We have been using this stables for a few years. Each year our grandchildren (aged 2 to 14) visit and want to ride. Burrowhayes has a selection of horses and ride offerings that has suited there needs. The horses they have ridden have all be excellent and the staff at Burrowhayes are always friendly, knowledgeable and keen to help. Recommended.

We stayed with Julian and family over a 20 year period and still pop in to this day. A real family friendly site, both daughters learnt to ride to a high standard over the years. Best of all were meeting same people year after year, girls are still in twitter contact ! Excellent facilities, safety for children assured, nothing but really happy memories. Claire and Jo endorse Mums comments!

Made a fantastic effort to ensure that our daughter had the right type of horse & ride for her ability. She came back with a big grin on her face - what more as parents do you want ! It is attached to a campsite run by very friendly people - so much so that we immediately booked to stay later in the year.

This site is always very popular and goes from strength to strength with pitches for touring caravans, motorhomes and tents as well as static caravans which can be hired but seem to get booked up really quickly, many people returning again and again. Good site shop and stream in a lovely National Trust area with plenty of walks and two tea gardens.

on arrival we werent quite sure where to go or who to speak to and there was a bit of hanging around, but....the kids loved it! our 2 eldest took it in turns going out for a half hour ride each, led by my husband. the man at the stables suggested routes we could take the horses on. the campsite the stables are based on looks lovely and peaceful, though not far from where we live, we intend to spend a night or 2 there when the weathers warmer.
