It's like stepping into an old style theatre with its beautiful charm. Staff are very friendly and the productions are very professional
We have seen the last five pantos at The Little Theatre and all have been very good, but this year's excelled itself. Fabulous costumes, lots of audience participation and some great jokes. Brilliant cast. This is a lovely little theatre. A real asset to the city.
This venue is excellent with an intimate atmosphere in the performance area and first class service in the foyer and bar. Parking is opposite as well as train and buses close by so the situation is good too
Recently moved to Leicester and have attended two shows at the Little Theatre. Such a nice experience with fairly-priced bar and excellent service. Performances also great. Would highly recommend.
We (my wife and I) have been going to the Little Theatre for roughly the last ten years. We buy season tickets, so we see their entire repertoire, including some plays we would never have chosen to see along with many that we would. The quality is always, at least, very good - sometimes superb, The venue is modern, comfortable, welcoming and efficient. It has (at a guess) 300-400 seats. It is 5-10 minutes on foot from Leicester City centre and 5 minutes from the railway station. We have just seen Journey's End - a World War I drama, which we would probably not have chosen to go to, if we had not had tickets from our bulk buy. It was, quite simply, one of the finest amateur (although it felt amateur in absolutely no way) theatrical performances we've ever seen. It was riveting from start to finish. The play was gripping and the five central characters were supremely cast - they felt as if they WERE the characters, not simply playing them. There were wonderful subtleties in the direction also - including a real coup at the end. The stage setting was also superb. The whole company is highly recommended if you are visiting Leicester - or if you live there.
A superb venue, centrally located, opposite a car park. The bar is lovely, with super staff. What a shame that the shows aren't always up to the standard of the venue, not their fault!
This is a wonderful venue. The place is just filled with fantastic staff, and an incredibly hard working cast. The plays are just great pieces of entertainment. I can not speak highly enough of how good this place is.
A Taste of Honey at the Little Theatre, Leicester for the best of amateur drama "A Taste of Honey" may be a classic play from the 1950's, but this week's amateur production in the Little Theatre replaces the nostalgia for Northern realism, with a modern, moving and bittersweet portrayal of survival in the face of a cruel failure of motherhood. Helen's rejection of her inconveniently born daughter, Jo, resulted in a tough, resilient young woman, who cements the mutual rejection by always calling her 'Helen'. Free thinking and independent, Jo's choices to be a single mother of a mixed-race baby were both brave and foolish. Her unacknowledged craving for the unconditional love she had never known, were partly met by the sensitive, caring, gay neighbour, Geoff. Beautifully portrayed by Freddie Dobrijevic, his loneliness and isolation in the face of society's vilification and mocking of homosexuality, is tempered by his stalwart courage to maintain his values of caring about people, liking babies and adventurous cooking. Jo, subtly and effectively played by Charlotte Brown, showed herself to be a portent of women to come - iconoclastic, intelligent & independent while harbouring the inevitable hurt of rejection by her mother. In purposefully rejecting the gift of a doll because 'it isn't the right colour', she is already fighting for the rights of her unborn child to be loved for who it truly is. Siobhan Ball as Helen is a masterful performance of a woman moulded by men and with the only chance of 'success' built on attracting them. Trying to love her pregnant daughter, it is all too difficult and time-consuming, and so rejects her again. At least this is how it came over to me, a psychologist, and contemporary of Jo's . This first-time director, Jason Burridge, has produced a wonderfully evocative play, which each member of the audience can make their own. This was brilliantly enhanced by the inclusion of 'dream-dance' interludes, expertly performed by Lydia Rushton & Omar Malik, which triggered the imagination and the search for the play's meaning. Jo's black lover/boyfriend, Jimmy, was exquisitely played by Aadyl Mulla as a mature and sensible young man, we would be happy to have our daughter marry. But their lives' inevitably conspired against that ever happening. In contrast, Peter, the meal-ticket for Helen, was an innocent drunk, played professionally and convincingly by Peter James. It is important in life to explore one's own thoughts and feelings and this play enables a deep introspection and thoughtfulness with humour, quality and depth. Go and see it.
Already booked for 2014 Puss in Boots Pantomine, wonderful place worth a visit and your support. Easy to find, plenty of parking. Actors/resses, costumes, professionalism second to none. A great family place.

I love this theatre. My friend and I have been taking advantage if the "special offer" for so many years I can't remember how long ago it was when we started! it is a couple of weeks now until the new season starts with Alan Ayckbourn's play "Role Play".We have seen a great variety of shows over the years. I have also been with my grand daughters to several shows, a great place to introduce young children to the joys of the stage. Prices are very reasonable for an evening at the theatre. The acting is of a very high standard. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Facilities are ok. Bar is cosy. Parking is easy..just opposite the theatre. And if you want a quick cheap and cheerful bite to eat before the show, Wetherspoons is a few steps down the road.
We have been to the Little Theatre Pantomime for 4 years with the girls its so good. A small theatre it means you are close to the action and it is a traditional theatre with lots of laughs, water and dames
This is a great little theatre with a lot of history used by many varied companies including Wigston who put on a great performance of Annie get your gun. Great place with great variety of shows to see. Well worth a visit
A cosy small auditorium. We visited for a fairy tale performance with our grandchildren. Most enjoyable.
