I have visited Aunt Martha's on a number of occassions over the years and each time I am delighted by the quality of the food. A close friend has coeliacs disease and we often purchase beautiful Gluten Free Cakes from Aunt Marthas and I can honestly say not any of us can tell that it is Gluten Free! In fact the best cake my friend has ever had she claims! As always on my most recent visit the service, atmosphere and quality of food was wonderful.

It is oldy worldy, quaint and the staff spoil you as soon as you arrive, wonderful recipes which may be enjoyed by candle light. There is nothing to dislike. It is a leisurely experience.

We decided to pop in after hearing good reviews from friends and family. We were pleasantly surprised with the reception, service and the refreshments. I would recommend this little gem to anyone!

Visited the tea rooms today for lunch, great service, amazing cream tea and superb setting. Beautifully maintained gardens, clean and all very well presented. A great experience, would recommend a visit.....even booked a high tea special for a special birthday gift for a family member whilst we were there.

Staff attentive but not 'prowling'Food was delicious - Homemade jam, fluffy scones, loads of cream, muslin covered jugs of ginger ale, Victorian china, sociable and approachable Ned the gardener wears a sac cloth shirt in a beautiful garden with gentle natural plantingDefinitely recommended...

The best cream tea ever! All the staff outstanding in their Victorian roles. A beautiful welcome, and very informative. Would definitely go back.

We found Aunt Martha's Tea Rooms by accident whilst having a day-out in the Forest of Dean. Such an experience that we wish we live nearer. The food was a delight to look at and tasted even better. We bought the booklets on how to behave correctly on Table Manners and Hoe to make a Perfect Cup of Tea, plus others. I intend to use this information at one of our Ladies Home League meetings at Tadley Salvation Army. Unfortunately, it is too far for them to visit but I hope to bring a similar experience to them. Thank you Aunt Martha for giving us a highlight to our holiday.

How to decide what is ' authentic' is always an issue. Which of the estimated 20,000 tearooms in 1897 does one take as the standard?. Living near the Beamish Museum this reviewer takes this museum as the standard. To compare a professional muesum with our efforts to recreate a working tea-rooms set in 1897, complete with oil lamps and candles, and say it lacks atmosphere is harsh. The comment about the bill ignores the fact that there must have been 4 in the party taking cream teas at £6 per head, a figure which compares very favourably with most in the area. Being loose tea the flavour of the Earl Grey tea was perhaps more authentic than that which the reviewer is perhaps used to with teabags. Similarly our scones, being baked on site on the morning will be moist against those which become dry having had to travel before reaching their destination. In summary 'one cannot please all the people all of the time' and we leave it to our other reviewers to set the record straight.

stopped here no the way to the wye valley very friendly staff and a great service with oil lamps on the walls for light and candles on the table and the staff in costume makes for a great and authentic atmosphere. was unable to view the gardens due to the weather. book in advance if you can for afternoon tea. will definitely be returning

We were heading for our cottage and wanted something to eat before we arrived. Spotted the signs on the side of the road and thought we would give it a try. What a great choice and such a surprise. We were greeted by a maid in Victoria costume who threw herself into the part fully. The whole experience was delightful. The Gardener, handyman, in full costume, stopped to talk, while measuring up tables at Aunt Martha's request. Everything is as authentic as possible. The food was home cooked, delicious, beautifully presented and very reasonably priced. We couldn't fault the whole experience. There are also handicrafts, jams etc to purchase. Would definitely return if we are in the area again.

I had been told about it by a friend so I took my Mum for a birthday surprise. We had lunch which was lovely, fresh and filling and plan a return trip for afternoon tea. It was a real treat and made my mum's day. The owners and staff are very friendly and it is reasonably priced.I was not sure it would be suitable for my grand-daughter but children are welcome and we will take her on our return trip. Lovely.

I was taken out for a surprise visit to Aunt Martha's by my friend for my birthday and what a surprise it was. I had no idea this amazing little tea room existed but am so glad that this was my present. I have a citrus allergy and this was dealt easily and without any fuss and they made sure I could enjoy all that they had to offer, everything was just delicious and the gardens were lovely to stroll round after eating our fabulous high tea. I will definitely be going again and will make sure I book in advance so I won't be disappointed.

What a lovely surprise Aunt Martha's Tea Rooms are. Great service, many very pretty touches to try to give it that Victorian authenticity. The garden has lots of interesting 'rooms' with a table and chairs in each section. Service and presentation really take you back to another era. Cakes are fabulous, luxurious, well priced and very fresh, and even more delicious with the added touch of fresh cream and very tasty strawberries when I was there. A real experience, a joy to see and wonder at, and all the time in the world to sit and enjoy, oh, and very reasonably priced too!

Very friendly, nice big servings of cake and tea. We have tried to return but it's now become so popular we cannot get it, recommend booking.

You really do go back in time the moment you knock on the door, my only criticism is that you had to book in advance to have a full afternoon tea and we were hungry! Go for a snack not for lunch. Also not suited for young children, there is nothing there for them.In saying that I would still recommend 100%
