It's interesting to try to imagine what the harbour was like in its industrial heyday. Visiting the outer harbour at low tide, we were impressed by the huge tidal range of the Severn. Our only complaint was that there is little information available regarding the sites history.

Took a trip here with my husband and dog and I must say it was a lovely walk. It was on a weekday so I am not sure if that makes a difference but it was lovely and quiet with a few other dog walkers and visitors. Nice views across the Severn and very peaceful and relaxing. No places to sit for a drink or food though so if that is something you are after during the visit then do bring along a flask but otherwise there are places close to drive to and stop off.

The history of this place is intriguing as it was once a very busy harbour. You can feel its a place steeped in history. Its a nice place to go for a walk although be warned as others mentioned there are no facilities but there are boards with information. There are great views of the Severn and what I think was the old Berkeley Power Station. There is a free car park

This is a nice spot for a winter walk, but be aware there are no railings at all, so small children should be kept away from the water side. There is a man made fall of water as the harbour gates lead into the river, I've never seen this before. When you get to the end it does open out into a lovely view up and down the river. There really is nothing there except a pretty walk, so don't go there expecting to be entertained. There is not even a tea hut, or at least there isn't in January.

A beautiful, unspoilt location. Ideal for peaceful bracing walks with the constant yet everchanging view of the River Severn. Lacking in services however- no toilets or coffee shop but ideal for a picnic. Just make sure you take your rubbish home as also lacking in bins!

Lydney Harbour is a hidden historic Gem - a surviving 19th century industrial harbour on the edge of Gloucestershires Coal Fields - for many years its been sleeping, but its about to wake up . . many reviews here reference that apart from looking wonderful and unexpectedly beautful - there's nothing to do here - well imagine this harbour coming back to life - bustling with boats and events a place for families to come and relax and for local people to interact, create, work, - - maybe it could be totally sustainable, with power being made from the wind and tide and old boats being given new zest and purpose because people want to come and eat and drink, make merry, contemplate, create, design aboard a fleet of intriguing boats rescued from potential graveyards North South East and West . . a group of local people are about to spring into action making this happen . . kick off is a public meeting at the Lydney Community Centre Friday 5th Feb at 7 pm. come along meet the team and have your say . . Lydney Harbour is your harbour -c together we can sail from the past into an exciting future..., https://www.facebook.com/lydneyharbour/timeline

The old harbour is really nice for walking and looking at the boats, or watching the tide come in. There are also a few boards with local information and history on, but not many. There could be lot more to down there but after an hour you'll have seen, read, and done everything there is to do down there.

We came upon this in the depths of winter and it was fascinating to walk around and look across the river, e.g. toward Sharpness where we had recently been. The maps and info boards are quite helpful. Yes, it would be nicer in summer to have cafes and toilets but we hadn't expected them - just followed the brown sign. Although the trip through the industrial estate and sign Private Road nearly put us off! Well worth the effort and such an important part of local history. We'll be back in better weather and possibly at high tide to see the water's activities.

We drove here thinking there would be nice little cafes to sit and have a coffee, how wrong we were. We did sit and take in the so called view. Not worth the detour

Rather disappointed when we arrived, as there were works going on to improve the parking area and in the harbour so quite a lot fenced off. Walking through to the harbour was shocked to see something so well advertised had nothing there, nothing open not even to get a cup of tea. We did wander about to ensure we hadn't missed anything but nope we hadn't. Must say it would be a nice place to walk the dogs, but we didn't have them this time.

As I live in Lydney, I have visited this place on many, many occasions. This place is good for people of all ages; Walking, Cycling, Dog Walking, Boating, Photography or just to admire the views. It also has a Yacht Club on-site and a place to store boats. It is also a popular place for -bird watching'.The only improvements that I can recommend are decent toilet facilities and a snack bar, or at least somewhere on-site which sells food.

It is a good walk to the harbour from Lydney centre but well worth it. The walk along the river is pleasant. The harbour is different and very visitor friendly, except there are no toilet. There is disabled persons' access from one side of the harbour to the other.

Seemed further than expected from Lydney but interesting and attractive waterside wander with some unusual rock reveals (look through the holes in the rocks).

this should not be a tourist attraction, unless you have a boat there, or have a dog to walk... don't bother.

Not much there, but it's in a lovely area with great views across the estuary. There weren't many boats to see, but the yacht club had coffee and cakes for sale and the sun was shining!
