I went along for the falconry 2 hour experience with my mum and we both had the most amazing time. The blokes who hosted us were welcoming, funny and able to share very interesting insights into the amazing birds that we interacted with. Everyone in the group had a chance to hold and feed different birds. The birds themselves are well trained and well looked after (not to mention beautiful of course!). The bond they had with the hosts was clear to see and helped the experience go smoothly! We had a hot drink break after about an hour which was much appreciated (I was certainly feeling the cold by then).I would recommend this to anyone who wants a great, interesting and different day out! :)
Absolutely brilliant experience really hands on lovely birds both hawks and owls, the staff made it!had a real good laugh and got you all involved would definitely go again!
Had an AMAZING Few hours on Saturday 8th March fantastic birthday gift from my lovely Fiance Yvonne. We got a walk with some Harris Hawks in the woodland around Rufford Park and were allowed to fly these beautiful amazing birds of prey under the watchful eye of our Falconer Guides Dave and Kel.Both were extremely knowledgable and were really helpful, it was clear to see that the whole team at Hawks of Steele have enormous passion for what they do and i found it heart warming that all the birds i saw have a unique bond with their handlers.Got to see Owls up close and personal real favourites of mine and the Golden Eagle was just majestic and the falcon experience was breathtaking.Would recommend this to everyone certainly made me one happy 45 year old.To Dave ,Trish,Kel and all the team thanks so much for a Brilliant time! Dean and Yvonne Doncaster.
Brill couple of hours spent with Hawks of Steel while staying at Sherwood Pines. Everyone in the group got a chance to fly and hold the birds, would definitely recommend. Was great fun as well as information packed.
Had a great hour with multiple owls today as a birthday present for my Mum. Everyone got a chance to fly a couple of birds and hold several more. Staff were knowledgeable and appeared to enjoy answering questions and informing us about the birds. We were even given a hot drink and a biscuit halfway through the session.
Hawks of Steele what can I say? The lads were funny, entertaining and very knowledgeable, the whole experience was awesome. Holding a barn owl would melt the hardest heart such a feeling and such a beautiful creature. Would recommend to anyone young and old. The best money I have spent for a very long time with great memories which are priceless
Booked for my wife and daughter ,part of birthday present. Venue altered to kelham hall, no signs of where they were on arrival, after touring round grounds eventually spotted some birds of prey outside a delapidated cricket pavillion. Could not go in with them to see merkats so spent 1hr in hall coffee shop. Helped several people who were also lost in looking for meerkats. Meerkats were apparently lovely, more than can be said for the cricket pavillion where the lights. kept going off, seemed very amaturish in organisation, and what company does not have their mobile phone on when expecting people at an event, especially if your lost. Thank heavens for the meerkats themselves.
Me and my boyfriend went as part of his Christmas present, the falconers made sure everyone was involved. They were easy to get on with and provided a lot of information. We took part in the 2hr falcon experience where we took the birds into the woods and everyone had the opportunity to fly them, we even learnt how to Lure ( which was funny to participate and watch) There was an unexpected tea break half way through which i though added to the experience due to the family taking the time to provide hot drinks. All the birds are well looked after and are friendly and well trained. The team are all down to earth and very knowledgeable. The bond between bird and trainer is inspiring.Overall it is a very hands on experience.Great day out, couldn't stop smiling!:)At Rufford Abbey you may need to pay for parking, we didn't because it was free on the day we went, there is an onsite restaurant (haven't been in it though)
What a great experience with these awesome birds and actually feeding and handling them too, the staff were very professional and very knowledgeable.Involved everyone even our grandson had an owl on his pushchair which he loved. Great family business well recommended.
we did the owl experience at Rufford and it was excellent. this is a family run operation by knowledgeable and the bond the handlers have with the birds is wonderful. We got to hold a variety of owls, watched them fly and learnt alot about them. would recommend for anyone that loves owls and other birds of prey.
We actually did the meerkat experience at another venue, but it's the same company. We had a Groupon voucher. It was a fun time, different to what we usually do. Lots of great photos - 3 meerkats were happy to be fed, run over us and entertain us.
The bond the handlers have with the birds is evident. It is truly an amazing experience up close and allowed to handle the birds. Would highly recommend it.
My wife and I went for the meerkat experience and really enjoyed ourselves. The keeper Karl was extremely knowledgeable and it was great to get hands on with the animals. Highly recommended!
I had a meerkat experience with hawks of steele at kelham hall in Newark. I couldn't of wished for anything else. We sat in a room and the guy got 3 meerkats out for us all to interact with. He told us all about their traits and their nature. They were very cute and friendly they came onto you, were able to feed them and stroke them and play with them. Couldn't of asked for anything more. Fantastic experience. Thank you
I bought a "one to one" experience for my husband for his birthday and went along as an observer - the morning was well worth the money. David and Dave's passion and knowledge on the birds was excellent and shared in a straightforward and sometimes humorous way. To get so close to and interact with such wonderful creatures and watch them in action turned out to be an even better experience than we were expecting. Sadly our photos don't seem to have been successful but now we have an excuse to make another visit - as if an excuse was needed! Thanks to all concerned - would recommend this wholeheartedly
