We just spent a beautiful day exploring this vineyard. Unfortunately, the English tour was not until 5 PM, so we did not get a lot of the information about wine making that I'm sure would only have added to our positive experience. First of all the drive from Evora to the winery was easy and absolutely beautiful--very pastoral scenes with farm land, vineyards, and cork trees. The day we went was glorious, about 74 degrees and cloudless with a slight breeze. When we got there, we noticed that the vineyard encompassed all the land and lake for as far as the eye could see. There was also a small garden, with chairs all around to sit on and enjoy the day. After walking around a bit, we went into the wine tasting area. The young man who helped us could not have been nicer. 5 Euros got us 4 very generous tastes of different wines (that's four for each person). We were sitting in a lovely room, and the whole experience was wonderful. If you are in Evora for a few days, I highly recommend this side trip. Definitely wait for a nice day to make it even more enjoyable.

This was an excellent extensive tour very informative (without being boring) even though the bottling hall was not operating on our visit it was excellent value for money tours start from six euros for two tastings priced depending on how many wines you chose to taste there is a outside seating area looking over the lake and the estate it also has a restaurant on site we arrived without booking but it is advised But beware the wines can be purchased locally cheaper.

You really have to know where you're going, and have patience, to find Herdade de Espirao, which is just outside of Reguengos de Monsaraz (say what?). This isn't a vineyard as an American would know it. It is the Ponderosa of vineyards. You sit in their restaurant and everywhere you look...it's theirs. And, it's been theirs since 1267. That's right -- 748 years. This was, without a doubt, our biggest and best surprise during our Portuguese vacation. We spent 2.5 hours eating one of THE most delicious, well-thought-out, relaxed lunches ever, and at E86, one of the most reasonable 1st class meals you'll ever have. Coupled with that is the unfailingly polite and kind personnel which personifies Portuguese service. A must for those of you savvy enough to venture out of Evora into the beauty of the Alentejo, Portugal's heartland.

We were 9, including three kids, so they reserved a secluded room with a big table, perfect for families. The food is really good and they do suggest the best wines for each course. You should combine your visit there with a guided tour to see the wine caves. Even the kids will enjoy it.

Spend a day here and learn how good wine is produced for the mass market and fine wines for the discerning palate. Enjoy a superb lunch on the terrace above the lake and sample the wines by the glass with each course. Good selection of estate produced olive oils and local baked bread. Booking recommended. This is as good as a vineyard visit is likely to be, we went back the next day to have another lunch and sample the other items on the menu, nothing disappointed us. Try the 2011 special reserve red before it runs out.

This was a full day from Evora but worth it. We first toured the winery and vineyards. That was ho-hum as we've been to other wineries. Then there was a wine tasting. The highlight of the day was the "degustation" lunch. Wine was paired with the various courses. The prix fixe menu included a main course I didn't care to try, so they changed it for me to something else which was delicious. The lunch was long and relaxing in a dining room with a lovely view of the property. We were lucky to have someone drive us out and back so we didn't have to worry about drinking all the wines. Lovely day

We had been corresponding with them about taking a tour, renting bicycles and having a picnic while there. Unfortunately, we didn't get enough info to feel comfortable booking ahead of time, so we figured we'd just drive out there and do a tasting instead. The drive is relaxing and scenic - a nice excursion if you have a car, but far if you're taking a taxi. When we arrived, we were pointed in the general direction of the shop, where we had a tasting (5 euro for 4 glasses) of wine. It was nice - their wine is very enjoyable, and there is a fair bit of variety. Then we had to seek out the olive oil tasting - there was no menu, or offer of this as an option. The olive oil is great - I'd venture even more enjoyable than the wine tasting - and we left with several bottles to bring home. They didn't suggest any further exploration of the property or building, so we started wandering on our own... and somehow wandered ourselves right down into their cellars!! We strolled through, took some pictures, but it seemed odd that we could access this without a guide or someone's awareness we were there.

It was a very interesting visit. We were given a comprehensive explanation about the way wine is made.

The "adega" is located in eastern Portugal, in a region of massive vineyards, surrounding a man-made lake. This was the view for our outdoor seating at the Herdade restaurant, which included well-priced regional fare, combined with local wines, for a leisurely meal. The site also contains an interpretation center, an ancient chapel and tower and a wine store. Evidently, there are plans to add hotel rooms. Lots of people taking photos of their meals, and the site. My wife loved the place.

We chose to visit this winery on the recommendation of our hotelier. It was a 30-40 minute drive from Evora and well worth it. An interesting tour of the cellars and wine making process. Ending with some samples of well priced quality wines. We had feared prices would be out of our range but there are wines from just €2. We chose a lovely white and tasty Rose at around €5 a bottle. Staff very friendly, setting very picturesque. We ended with a tasting of olive oils and tasty tomato spread, olives and marinated veggies, delicious! Unfortunately after a hearty breakfast at our hotel, we couldn't do justice to what looked like a wonderful lunch menu. Definitely recommend.

Very good wines and olive oils. Very interesting projects. Has a shop and offers guided tours as well wine tasting. Go for lunch. The food is not impressive but it's a good modern twist on traditional and fits well with their wines.

Take the tour, but if you love food do not miss the lunch. Enjoy great food and wine and in a beautiful setting

The real purpose was to have lunch but we thought we would take in the tour. We did not choose to take the Jeep around the Vineyard. Tour could have been more professional. Not much more effort would be needed to make the tour as good as their wines and restuarant. If you are not going to buy any wines or not eating in their restaurant no real reason to go.

We were at the winery just under a year ago. It was a relaxing and relatively quiet excursion from Evora. The area is relatively remote which lends a nice atmosphere, though it is a little sparse. We did the jeep tour of the grounds and the tour of the winery itself. The jeep tour was nice, but only somewhat interesting. The grounds are a little sparse and while it's good to drive around there wasn't all that much to see. Indoors though was more rewarding with an overview of the process and a feel for the different wines made. The setting for lunch was relaxing, with a small restaurant overlooking the property. Unfortunately (for me at least) the dish was wood-grilled octopus. I'm not a fan, but they did substitute a good chicken dish. I did have a little of the octopus and it was good I'm sure if you like octopus.Overall it was a good experience, but not the most memorable thing we did in Portugal. The wine however was very good. Our guide's name was Ina if I remember correctly, and she was very good and added to the experience.

A nice winery that also has a restaurant. We had lunch which was very nice, aired with their wines for all courses. We then took a tour of the winery and a van ride around the fields which I will categorize as boring. If you are in the area, it is worth a visit, but a short one. Have lunch if you have a chance.
