Porto Santo Beach was rated 2014 as "Best Sandy Beach" of Portugal. It is 9km long of soft golden sand and is ideal for lazing in the sun (protection factor +30 to +50), beach volley and football, swimming of course, and for a sun-downer in one of the many beach bars just above the waterline. Porto Santo is very safe and the beach is ideal for families. Highly recommendable.Rating: *****

rent a scooter and get around the island in 20 minutes, take a beach umbrella because there are no shadows and the sun is very strong.

There is nothing to dislike about this beach. At something like 9 kilometres, mostly flat firm sand, backed by dunes it is the ideal beach for walking, or if one wishes to be more laid back there is ample rom for relaxation in seclusion.

Clean warm and perfect.No jet skis or banana boats no dangerous wildlife and ideal for small children and babies.

With yellow shinny sand and being 8 km long, the Porto Santo beach is acessible to everyone (none of that bullsh** of closing parts of the beach of Hotel only use...). The water is warm in the summer and agreable in the winter (never gets below 18 degrees celsius)...It is just beatiful and knowed for having some healing properties...:D

Good Bars/Restaurants with free wifi along the beach...Clean Sand...water temperature simply magnificent!!!

clean and crystal waters, thin sand, 9 km of south coast, warm water of 19 celcius degrees, close to the sun and the moon, where I fall in love with my wife, safe to swim all year round as there's no harmful fish, paradise in the middle of the atlantic ocean.the warm waters come form the golf mexican and there's no strong currentssand can be used as therapy and scrub your body.very very good5 stars +

The most fantastic beach I know. The sand is clean and the water is calm and very warm all year round. A long beach with very few people and the best for a long walk early morning or late afternoon.

Brilliant golden sand for miles. Totally unspoilt, no banana boats or jet skis! Sand was very hot on your feet in August. Sea was cool, but great when you get in. Can walk into town via beach or just enjoy a relaxing stroll. Sand rumoured to have healing properties!! Absolutely loved this place, the best beach I have been on. :-)

Beach long clean sandy beautiful. Totally unspoilt. One side of island beach the other Rocky crags, golf course.

We especially loved about this beach that (at least in september) there were lots of spots you had for your own as well as guarded bits with umbrellas, beach bar and everything that were more crowded.Sand, water and scenery are dreamlike!

If you just want to rest, and you love going to the beach, than this is the best beach in Portugal for that. The beach is very long, it has a clear water, and unless you go there on august, it will be uncrowded. Perfect to rest.

Absolutely beautiful beaches, and I think this is probably the main attraction of this pretty island. Near to Madeira but far nicer as Madeira has no beaches to speak of. Clean, no pebbles near the edge of the water but can be huge waves at times.
