This science museum is one of my favourite museums in Barcelona. Located on the foot of the Tibidabo hills, it has I think up to 5 floors, some for temporary exhibits, with the bottom floor being my favourite. It holds a Foucault pendulum, exemplifying the rotation of the Earth, various physical-mechanical exhibits allowing you to experience the laws of physics yourself, nature exhibits explaining fractals, cyanobacteria and many more. Mainly geared towards children but interesting for adults, too. The best part is the artificial rainforest set up in a portion of the floor, with live crocodiles, turtles and massive fish in the water, birds running around you, rainshowers and a real live capibara. Good for a fascinating afternoon. Entrance 4 eur, free for the clients of La Caixa bank.
Good science museum. Rotative exhibitions. We saw one with dinosaurs. Great! There is also an indoor rainforest, worth seeing.
5 stories with 3 floors almost empty of exhibits. Signage is not that good. You start at the top and all the good stuff is on the bottom floor, stick with it though as there are loads of interactive experiments to play with and the enormous rain forest exhibit is amazing. Well worth the visit.
I really loved the CosmoCaixa. It is interactive, so it's really interesting to hang out there - it's not just as a normal museum, where usually you just read stuff and watch some videos. Here you can interact with almost all of the sights and the most amazing thing is the rainforest with all the animals in the middle of the museum. It is a perfect place for nature and science enthusiasts. Unfortunately we came way too late, we had just 2 hours to see it :/ I recommend arriving early, so you have enough time (I would say 4-5 hours) since its really big - it has 4 or 5 floors. It's perfect for kids, who will have lots of fun trying out the interactive tools (and additionally learn something) and watching animals. And the price is really cheap - 4€, for people from Barcelona even for free.
A very large building with lots of interesting activities also with English instructions. It was a shame that we hadn't kids with us, but we enjoyed the museum very much. There was even a large aquarium/rainforest inside the museum.
This is a very interesting place to go with children, although adults like it very much. As a science museum It has many different attractions, some are interactive. The rainforest is amazing, even for a Brazilian used to see this kind of landscape. Outside the museum there are a lot of attractions, like a weather station. There is a pleasant restaurant with a choice of food.
CosmoCaixa is located on BLUE line of BUS Touristic and as such is one of the best, if not THE best "museum" that we have visited. Whole -5th floor is interactive and visitors can learn by trying and observing various laws of (mainly) physics and other natural sciences. CosmoCaixa is also home of beautiful rain forest in which there are bursts of artificial rain falling that further enhance experience of walk through rain forest. This is a must to visit for all science lovers and families with school children. TIP: Entry fee is ridiculously cheap, eur 4 (3 with coupon from BUS touristic booklet).
This is a great attraction, at a great price. Only E4 per adult, and under 16s are free. This is a very interactive, child friendly science museum and an entertaining way to spend the day. All the exhibitions were engrossing and the amazon rainforest was incredible. The kids were amazed. This appears to be a very popular school day trip - as when we visited, there were plenty of school kids of all ages. And even at that the place did not feel full, and there was plenty of space. The restaurant (buffet) was good value at E14 per adult and E8 per child for all you can eat - usual food type, nothing fancy. Very enjoyable, the kids were entertained, educational without them even realising and great value. I would highly recommend a visit for any family.
Very interesting, well organised, beautiful science museum. My kids and i enjoyed every moment especially seeing the trees roots and the fish around them.
It is a exciting and informative museum. All exhibitions were professionally done and working. We liked the rainforest and the Antarctica exhibition outside.BUT it was difficult to navigate. We would recommend a overview map. Go there and have a very nice time!
I use to visit this museum once a year and I am never bored of it. It makes me come back to childhood. Almost everything that surrounds you can be touched and tried. It makes science much funnier and simple. It is a perfect place for going with family or partner. I strongly recommend it!
The Amazon exzibit is the best thing I've seen so far! A complete educational centre that should be included in the tourist guide books! Found it by accident when coming down by foot from Tibidabo...speechless!
Very Well done . Its aN interesting place to visit with very Nice things to learn about science , human body , animals and plants . The trees on the water are amazing!
This place is so cool! A giant amazon forest with capibara, piraima and other species... a matter room full of games which summarize all the boring concepts explained at school in a very pleasant way... Archimedes and meteorological explanations very easy to understand. It's just a pitty that the temporary exposition "Mediterraneum" isn't available anymore. P.S.1. go to the 3d planetariun, it's really worth the extra 4 euros;P.S.2. go where with some food in a bag or you will feel sorry for being hungry and not having seen anything you want
Great great great in a nice uptown area, you can take the train crossing the hole city up to Av. Tibidabu and walk to the museum on the old street between ancient houses and then meet modern science in a cool museum. I have been there several times and it is really something special.
