The beach is long, clean and has children's play areas provided in the area near the promenade. Check out the bars and restaurants. There are plenty and cover all requirements
You have to go to beat the White Sandy beachs of Southern spain and particulary the provence of Andalucia with more or less guarunteed weather and views to die for,out over the Atlantic you can walk as Little or as far as you like with plenty of watering holes Tapas Bars and restaurants that cater for all budgets with good clean facilities when you need them or sit and take in the atmosphere of you surroundings and watch the world go by at a slow pace,,what ever your doing your are sure to enjoy the ambience
is an amazing beach which is just as well as the area has very very little else going for it . Excellent walk and in summer the warmer water would make it a good swimmig area - ecouraged by surfers even in January
Clean, wide and long beach with good facilities and wide range of bars and restuarants for drinks, snacks and meals. Parking is limited for the size of the beach, so arrive early or be prepared to walk further than most people want to nowadays!
We have been lucky to travel to some of the 'best' beaches in the world, and we were somewhat disappointed when we discovered just how much money it costs to go back to these places when you have children. Having been to Nejer a few times, lovely in some way but awful beaches, we resolved to try and find better beaches in the med. We were surprised when someone recommended the Costa De La Luz as it is reasonably close to the Costa Del Sol, but wow what a difference. It just proves that the Spain tourism boom has been developed in largely the wrong area, and the clever Spanish have kept the best to themselves! THe natural beauty of this area is simply outstanding - think of the best of Cornwall add some heat and take away the English, perfect. The La Barrosa beach is massive - up to 14km and wide/deep. We have been off peak and peak and although the difference in numbers is shocking, the reality is there is plenty of space for everyone. We love the Spanish culture and way of life, being amongst the Spanish and not hearing any English, almost is a real pleasure. The August period sees the area engulfed by second home owners from Madrid etc but as I said no real issues - most of the Spanish seem to hate paying for parking so this leaves spaces for us tourists right on the beach. Nice choice of food along the coast line, more one block inland along the road; great promenade for buggies and strolling, safe with plenty of life guards and a few police, currents not too strong, toilets and showers available, great view out to the old castle. It is also a great base to explore the wider area - Cadiz is magnificent, Jerez for horses and Sherry; Medina Sedonia, Roche, Conil, and Vejer all worth a visit.
Don't worry about that story on burning smoke. This must have been a specially unlucky day. La Barrosa is a fantastic beach. It's length is between 7 and 14 km, depending whether you include Cabo Roche or not. Apart from perfect sand and waters, you have lots of restaurants, many hotels (including some 5 stars), hundreds of apartments and houses to rent, etc. If you like silent nights to sleep, you also have very quiet residential areas. If you are staying there, you can also avoid the frequent traffic jams. If, like it is our case, you own there a house with garden and a pool, then you are in heaven.
We've been all over the world and we've seen so many beaches and this is absolutely one of my favorite..well actually, this IS my favorite!! It's a very long beach for many many miles/kilometers, but it's also extremely wide! Very peaceful AND clean, so you can a have nice long walk over the beach, believe me you will not be disappointed! ;-)**Here's a extra tip; if you have booked a hotel at the La Barossa beach go for a midnight walk on the beach and see millions and millions of stars above you and with the sound of the ocean surrounding you....
I was in the area during the month of October 2014. The beach is good but there were many days the smog from the burning fires coming from inland made it very unpleasant to be in the area. These fires are from burning "rastrojos" that are leftovers from the olive trees + that farmers burn freely causing large pollution in the south-east of Spain and the winds pushing this pollution to the coastal areas. It was like been in a smoking room . Unhealthy! I do not recommend it. I had to wait to go out of my hotel room until the winds shifted in different direction. Besides this CO2 added to the planet and not understanding how this old practice is not banned and how this could be resolved in a different way. We all agree we live in a planet were the CO2 is creating a big unbalance and we should not support this practice.
La Barrosa in one of the beautiful beaches in all Spain and special in this area , the beach is about 14 KM long and special in summer time you have all long places to rest to drink and to eat special of course fresh Fish. The beach is nice and big and you can go inside the sea without to be afraid . come and see all the area in General with a lot of Hotels and People from all over the world.
Very long wide beach. Plenty of space to be alone or with others.Plenty of Chiringuitos for food, drink and toilets. Sunbeds and sun shades nearest the various hotels. Ideal for singles, couples or familes
The beach was clean with white sand and good waves. People enjoy themselves a lot. Beach chairs are provided and the beach restaurant provides the necessary drinks and foods
Well, where do you start with La Barrosa ??We are so lucky to live in the area its our favoured beach, with safe bathing and literally miles of sands, if you want to just stroll, with deep blue ocean of the Atlantic and a view to die for,no high rise here to spoil the fantastic views in any direction. Then there is the choice of food and drinks available from Tapas bars to restaurants with all budgets catered for ,but to give a honest view be careful with some of the restaurants as they can be abit pricey in the summer season. As regular visitors to the area we found a delightful "Tapas" bar come restaurant the "HABANA" that caters for all tastes from fresh meat to locally caught fish, and a range of mixed salads to cooked dishes and all at reasonable prices, typically 15 to 20 euro's for two. Then when you have relaxed after a hard day of walking and eating sit and take in the beautiful sunset,a perfect end to a most enjoyable day,you won't be disappointed
long beach good for walks, low buildings dont destroy the sights , blue water, small waves , sea is not strong and dont push us , police and red cross moving by car or quad and lots of bars-rest-chiringuitos to have some beers , fried fish , salads, etc
liked:The views at the seaside, the possibillity to walk hours and hours, nice little center with lots of restaurants and bars, city center to be reached in just 10 minutes, nice trips to other cities to be made if wished.unliked: ending of a beautiful stay-out in chiclane
This area has some of the best beaches in Spain for me. There is not a lot to do around and about but that's not what we go for
