It was a very good mini adventure, through the natural caves beneath the old monastery. I gave it 5* because it is easy on the legs, well lit and very well done. When I was there, there was only a Spanish tour guide available, and He did try to include me, and did apologize for his lack of English, which would have been much more enlightening for me, a non Spanish speaker

The caves in Aracena "Gruta de las Maravillas" are truly amazing. Beautiful sights underground. The tour is in Spanish, language translation device would have been nice, it was a moderate pace and gave you time to take in and enjoy. No photos allowed inside. Price was very reasonable, good for family, group or on your own. Take a sweater or jacket it can be chilly even in summer.

This is a truly spectacular cave system. The tour is all in Spanish but it does not matter. Best 8.5 euros I've spent on a tour.

The Caves in Aracena are a real jewel in the crown of this lovely historical town. Well worth a visit. Good for all the family to visit. Good restaurants and shops nearby

Amazing, organized and easy to visit. It's a place for all family. Located in the city center near the nice local restaurants.

The English translation of this cave should be something like “Cave of Marvels”, and it is indeed a marvellous magical place. First of all, it is not a single cave, as the name may suggest, but an amazingly complex and huge maze of caves connected by walking trails. It is so big that the touristic visit only explores 10% of the total length of the cave, about 1,5 km. taking an hour.It is an easy walk and you will cross underground pristine lakes and really weird geological formation. There is even a cave called the “Dick cave” due to the curious form of the stalactites of that precise cave… prepare your camera and smile! The lights are strategically placed to create a startling nice feeling. It costs 8,5€ but if you pay 10,5€ you get a combined ticket to visit the Museo del Jamón, which is nearby and it is really a must (do not forget to try in a restaurant the “”jamón ibérico”, not to be confused with the “jamón serrano”, which is a second class product compared with the ibérico). You can book via Internet or buy tickets once there. If visiting in peak periods try to book in advanced since there is a limit of 1,000 people per day as maximum, in order not to alter the environmental balance of the cave.A really mesmerizing place!

A bit tricky to find the right moment in september as the visit is organised when there are enough tourist. Ask advice to the tourist office nearby !

This is an impressive cave complex with tights and mights of calcium growing slowly. Amazing stuff underground and all lighting unobtrusive

The caves are extremely beautiful and the tour takes you through several chambers. It is impressive and awe-inspiring, but if you are not in the area or do not have other plans for in and around Aracena, I don't suggest making the drive just for the caves, like we did. You have to go on a guided group tour of the caves, and the groups are just large enough that you might miss what is being said if you are in the back of the group. Audio guides are available in several languages and cheap so you can learn about what you are seeing. You can't take photos but at the beginning of the tour they take your photo and you can buy it afterward (not worth it). The cave floor is wet and slippery and in some places you have to duck down, so wear good shoes if you plan to visit and don't visit if you have difficulty walking as some spots could be dangerous if you are unsteady on your feet. Overall beautiful cave, but being in such a large group kinda made the visit less enjoyable.

Well organised, just the right amount of explanation, not hurried.Have seen many caves all over Europe and this one rates high for beauty, colours and variety.

Aracena is as interesting underground as it is above, both are well worth a visit. About an hour long we were constantly last to leave each chamber.

Its impressive, pity we had only limited time to visit. surprisingly we entered with no charge, maybe caused by our late arrival

membio_mauro

The caves are beautiful, but they don't allow taking photos at all. They take one photo of you and sell it for 8€ at the end.

The Gruta de las Maravillas is one of the most amazing of its kind in the world, and certainly stands out in Europe. They are huge, rich with beauty and awe-inspiring mystery, providing a tantalizing experiences that will be hard to forget.Totally worth it.

This is not a cave with many stalagtites and stalagmites, but rather sheets of concretions with "fingers" extending from them. The walking is challenging--a lot of up-and-down and slippery places--but the effort is repaid by the beauty of the cave. There are not many tours in English--mine was in Spanish, which I do not speak--but that didn't matter. The cave is spectacular.
