Away from the hussle and bussle, scenic, rustic and peaceful..authentic little village..small shops to view and pick up some small gifts for friends and family, plenty of leather goods around..with places to eat and have refreshing drinks, with the option of menu del dia..

Had a lovely stroll through thi beautiful and quant village with the church /iglesia-de-santa-domingo at the top of the hill. Then looking down from th view point too the right of the church there's a construction created by three men over a period of three years. The Castillo-de-Colomares a wonder land of pure magical imagination by these three men.Dedicated to the work of Christopher Columbus.I would recommend taking the the land train (Tren) from Puerto Banamadena. This is a guided excursion but well worth the investment at the start of your break.Hope you get Victoria the guide she commands three languages English, Spaniash and native Russian.

The pueblo is a €1.55 trip on a local bus from the playa. Whereas the playa is as un-Spanish as you can imagine, the old town is typically Spanish with bars surrounding picturesque plazas bathed in sunshine. A short walk to the church with three bells (striking 5 past twelve when we were there!) gives fantastic views across the costa del sol. Take a camera and binoculars for an even better view. A watch point though - as we were on the bus it travels through the town centre before going up to the pueblo. As a Spanish lady got off the bus with her shopping bag, her purse was snatched. The thief ran off, but closely followed by plain clothes police who arrested him a short distance away. Whilst that was good news for the upset lady, you have to ask why the plain clothes police stake out bus stops! Obviously not an isolated incident. Be careful.

Lovely old village easily reached on the service buses. The easiest way to travel is to purchase a bus card and then put whatever money you wish on the card. This save you about one third on every journey and your bus ticket on each journey updates you on your remaining balance. Top up is easy at most Tobacca shops

The village is easy accessed by bus and well worth a quick visit. There are some charming little coffee shops.

This is an excellent example of a typical white village. The streets are quite hilly and winding with shops and restaurants scattered here and there. There is an extensive balcony system overlooking lower sections of Benalmadina and Fuengirola. Getting there can be a challenge if you're driving.

loved this area.....only down side was that operator at the station at the time of our visit spoke or understood our enquiries but that's our fault.....as they say.....when in rome.....

its defiantly worth the short trip to see the old town. The views are amazing and the Street from the old church to the little square is great for a few holiday snaps. The list is a bit nerve racking tho.

We walked up the last few kilometres from Aroyo del Miel and were rewarded with magnificent views and a picture perfect old town. We found the Plaza de Espana and had a light lunch at one the restaurants in the Plaza, a great setting. We then walked to the church from which there are magnificent views to the Mediterranean. There is also the suprise of a small play area behind the church for kids! Make the effort to get up here, it's a change of scene from much of the rest of the coast.

We only found out about this towards the end of our stay - poor reps from Thomson!! - what a hidden gem - fantastic views, winding streets, lovely little shops hidden away, history by the bucket-load. We loved it.
